Sad news for the Rivanna Retriever family again. Riley had to have a csection today and unfortunately the puppy did not make it. Riley is home doing well and resting in her favorite spot. Please pray that her recovery is a smooth one. 🤞

Unfortunately, the vet confirmed what we've been thinking and Riley's only pregnant with ONE puppy. At this time we have not decided if we will keep it or rehome it. Keeping fingers crossed that all goes well with labor. This puppy will be spoiled rotten as our kids always look forward to puppies to play with.

If you were on the list for this litter.... we are contemplating on whether or not to breed Riley during her next heat cycle this fall.

We are planning to breed Puddles in the late summer if all her clearances come back okay. Hoping to do OFAs next month. She's DNA clear on everything through parentage.

Rambo update. We get to start easing him back into training. His first blind since his surgery. Didn't run the marks because he doesn't have a low gear. Hopefully soon!

Update on Rambo:

GREAT NEWS!! First words from the MD "I don't usually get to give owners good news when a dog has been on vetmedin."

Rambo's heart is now the normal size and his mitral valve is functioning properly. He is able to come off his heart med!! She believed the changes were caused by pericarditis (the sac that was removed) or possibly endocarditis. He will have another recheck in 3 months just to make sure everything is still okay.

In a few weeks Rambo can return to the kennel and slowly start training!

Rambo update:

Rambo had a check up at our regular vet this past Tuesday. Xrays appeared stable. Meaning the fluid is still there but doesn't appear to have gotten worse. He had labs drawn but I haven't heard results on them yet so I'm assuming that nothing alarming popped up. He is continuing on his antibiotics. He has recently had signs/symptoms that the meds are affecting is stomach. We can hear belly sounds and he audibly groans often. He needs a lot of encouragement to finish eating. He is currently 81lbs so were not too worried. Hopefully the probiotics he's been getting will keep the discomfort tolerable.

He is seeing the cardiologist on Monday 2/24 at VT for his echocardiogram. He may also have other tests and procedures that day as well if deemed necessary. I will update again after that appointment. 🤞that he can come off the heart meds.
