Breaking news: your cat is fully employed. We're starting to think your cat might have more jobs than we do... 🐾what role is your kitty clocking in for today?

Had three dogs in my life. Each one completely different. Each one irreplaceable. My first dog taught me responsibility. My second got me through college depression. My current dog is healing trauma I didn't know I had. They didn't replace each other they each claimed separate pieces of my heart. When my first two died, those pieces went with them. Permanently. I'll never get them back. My current dog owns his own piece. When he goes, that piece goes too. That's the cost of loving dogs. Each one takes a piece forever. Your heart gets smaller but somehow fuller.

Someone asked me yesterday what my life revolves around. Expected me to say career or hobbies or relationships. I said "my dog" without hesitation. They laughed. I wasn't joking even slightly.
A four-legged creature who can't speak actual words is genuinely the center of my entire universe. My schedule is built around his needs. My apartment was chosen based on his requirements. My vacation destinations are determined by whether he can come. My free time is spent doing things he enjoys. Every major life decision runs through the filter of "but what about my dog?"
People think that's sad or limiting or means I'm avoiding real human connection. They're missing the point entirely. My dog IS real connection. More authentic than most relationships I've had with people who could talk. He communicates perfectly without words. I know when he's happy, anxious, wants to play, needs comfort. We have full conversations through eye contact and body language.
He doesn't talk but he tells me everything. When he sighs and leans against me, that's "I feel safe with you." When he brings me his toy, that's "you looked sad, this makes me happy so maybe it'll help you." When he rests his head on my lap, that's "I'm here, you're not alone."
This animal who can't say a single word has communicated more love and loyalty than most humans I've known who never shut up. So yeah, my entire world revolves around a furry creature who doesn't speak. And my world has never felt more stable or full or purposeful.
Crazy? Maybe. But it's my reality and I wouldn't trade it.

Veterinary reception is not “just answering phones.”

It is emotional triage.
It is operational control.
It is being kind when people are rude.
It is being precise when everything is moving at once.
And somehow still smiling through all of it.

That is not “just reception.”
That is skill.
That is labor.
That is intelligence.
That is leadership.

The Vet CSR exists because this role deserves to be seen clearly.

KMPC had the privilege of hosting veterinary students from WSU’s Christian Veterinary Fellowship group for a spay/neuter clinic. The students were able to practice surgical skills under the supervision of Dr. Cook and Dr. Barrett from Silver Valley Veterinary Clinic. Nikki, Jess, Courtney, Gracie, Charity, Luke, and Katie helped out for the day as well. It was so great to help the next generation of veterinarians.
