The adoption events, a wonderful time for the dogs to get out of the shelter and meet potential adopters. A “field trip” day as we call it. For most dogs, they all get to meet potential adopters, and get to go home, but sometimes, even the best dogs get overlooked.

That is exactly what happened today at NFM for Serenity. She was perfect. She loved meeting all the new dogs, loved the kids, and she thinks all adult humans are her best friends. She had the best time ever, and then 3pm hit, and we had to load back up in the car and go back to the shelter.
How do you tell such a fun, sweet, happy girl that no one wanted her. It breaks our heart as much as hers. The car ride back was hard, but we promised her we won’t stop until we find her forever family.

Serenity is a 1yr old Lab mix, and weighs 35lbs. She loves dogs, doesn’t mind cats, and loves kiddos. She keeps her kennel clean, and loves to go for walks.
She is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative and dewormed. Her adoption fee is $85.00.

🥳Please help us wish our lead volunteer Jennifer a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Jennifer’s dedication and love for our shelter is completely unmatched and we are so grateful for her. She has never missed a single weekend doing adoptions since starting as our lead volunteer in 2019. NOT A SINGLE WEEKEND! Since starting, Jennifer has made a huge impact at KCKAS by expanding and building our volunteer program to have multiple Leads so that we can do multiple adoption events at one time off-site which has helped lead us to a 69% increase in adoptions since she started. She also fosters an average of 70 animals a year!
