Critterhousekc CritterhouseKC is a foster-based animal rescue organization operating in Greater Kansas City. Every pet deserves a home and every home deserves a pet.

At CritterHouseKC, we specialize in finding foster homes and providing care for animals in some of the most challenging situations, ultimately finding them permanent homes with loving families. We take in mamas and babies, pregnant cats and dogs, orphaned puppies and kittens and babies with a variety of special needs. We also have the opportunity from time to time to pull animals released from com

mercial breeding facilities into our program. These animals require a special skill set to transition them from a life of breeding to life as a treasured family member. CritterHouseKC was born from a collection of volunteers who have served the greater Kansas City area rescue community for decades. We understand the needs of area animals and potential adopters alike and bring a fresh perspective to the art of connecting the right pet to the right home. Further, our great veterinary partners and our relationships with other rescue groups throughout the region allow us to offer low-cost adoptions after providing spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccination and microchips.

Meet Cookie, a 4-year-old, 14-lb bundle of cuteness who truly checks all the boxes!

This smart little lady is house-trained, walks beautifully on leash (no pulling!), and would love to have a doggy friend if you already have one at home. She’s curious, active, and fast as lightning when she gets the zoomies! Cookie makes an excellent cuddler and TV-watching buddy — she even seems to recognize things on the screen!

She smiles when you say her name, leaps like a gymnast, and is ready to bring so much joy into your life. 💕

🐶 Cookie is currently receiving treatment for heartworms. CritterHouseKC will continue to provide her care through our vet, so at this time we are only considering local adopters until her treatment is complete.

We’ve partnered with Krispy Kreme for a sweet and simple fundraiser to support the animals at CritterhouseKC! Here’s how to join in:

We made a post for sweet Soprano a few months ago and now we are even more surprised that she got so much attention but not a single application yet again.. so we will continue to post her until someone realizes she’s the dog they need to complete their family. 💕

“Why doesn’t anyone want me?” 💔

That’s the question I’ve been asking myself for months. My name is Soprano, and I’m a little snuggle bug who just wants a family to love. I’ve been in the rescue since January of this year, watching other dogs find homes while I keep waiting for my turn.

I’m housebroken, kennel trained, and I walk politely on a leash. I love curling up next to you on the couch, feeling the sunshine on my face in the backyard, and quietly chewing on a bone while you relax nearby. I get along wonderfully with other dogs and would love a canine friend to play with. My foster family is amazing, and their dogs have become my best friends, but deep down I still dream about having a home of my very own.

In all this time, only one person has ever shown interest in me… and they decided not to take me home either. I don’t know why, because I have so much love to give. Every day I wait, hoping someone will finally see me and realize I’m the one they’ve been looking for.

If you’ve been searching for a loyal companion who will fill your life with love, I’m right here, ready for you. Please… give me my chance at a forever home. I promise you’ll never regret it. ❤️

✨ We can’t believe we’ve had Newman in our rescue this long without any interest — how has no one scooped up this handsome boy yet?! ✨

Newman is a 6-month-old Aussie pup who’s the perfect mix of goofy, smart, and sweet. He loves everyone he meets, gets along great with dogs, cats, and kids, and will keep you smiling with his playful antics. When he’s not chewing on his favorite toys or playing outside, he’s happiest soaking up cuddles or sleeping on the couch. 💛

Wowser - the Black Lab Puppies will be 15 weeks tomorrow. They are looking for their forever homes. They are fully vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. They use a doggy door so they should be easy to potty train. They are exploring the kennel, napping in their foster sister's kennel. They are very sweet, curious, playful puppies.
