Welcome Nala to the SévaDog family. Her story is heartbreaking…
As many of you know, our director, Mandy, and her husband, Ryan, own a dog boarding/daycare facility. Nala came for boarding and due to unfortunate circumstances, now needs to be transferred to SévaDog.
Here is her surrender letter…
About nine years ago, my brother Scott and his wife Nancy rescued a sweet soul named Nala. Nala wasn’t just a pet; she was part of the family, cherished and deeply loved. Not long after Nala’s adoption, life took a heartbreaking turn. Nancy suffered a major grand mal seizure, which led to a long road of medical treatment, rehab, and the need for full-time care. Scott, without hesitation, stepped up as her sole caregiver. It was a quiet kind of heroism.
As often happens with caregivers, Scott poured everything he had into Nancy’s well-being and, over the years, lost sight of his own. On March 2nd, 2024, my brother passed away at the age of 67. The official cause of death: self-neglect.
After Scott’s passing, Nancy’s health continued to decline, and she was eventually placed in assisted living. Through it all, Nala remained at their home — a quiet constant. The neighbors, kind and concerned, made sure she had food and got outside, but no one was in a position to take her in.
When the home finally sold, Nala was transported to Oregon, where she now lives . By some grace, she landed in a place where she is safe, cared for, and truly loved. Every time I speak to Nancy, she asks about Nala. She misses her terribly and wishes things were different. And I’m so grateful I can tell her the truth — that Nala is alive, thriving, and being looked after with care and kindness.
Now, we’re hoping to find Nala a permanent, loving home — one that matches the love she’s always known. If you feel moved by her story, or know someone who might be able to offer her the comfort and connection she so deserves, please reach out. Your generosity could mean everything to this dog who has already meant so much to so many.
Sincerely,
Nala’s Auntie
Please share Nala!! 😩🙏
