Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day! 🐈‍⬛🖤

Cindy and Buttercup are getting extra kisses and lovings today. Did you know this is the least adopted coat color? We have no idea why! It’s personally our favorite - we love sometimes talking to a black sweater on the floor instead of our black kitty, Finn.

Willie is finishing his THIRD round of antibiotics and the others finally finished their quarantine and basic meds so into the kitten cage they all went!

Willie and Lyza must know each other from before because they went right to duking it out. There was no screaming so it was just aggressive kitten playing that Lyla and Cindy clearly had no interest in.

Hopefully all of them together teaches them appropriate kitten manners! Willie has been in quarantine so many times he’s a bit of a monster when he’s out 🫣

We have our hands very full lately with exciting but exhausting work! We are looking for people willing to volunteer with the following things:

🫶🏻volunteer to attend adoption events (next is August 30th between 1-7 — we want to plan more but that means we are tied to that location for hours)
🫶🏻reference checks for adoption applications
🫶🏻spay and neuter clinic registration and documentation through Allegheny Spay and Neuter and Johnstown Animal Welfare Society
🫶🏻fosters to help bring more cats in to help!
🫶🏻assistance with fundraiser planning, special events planning (none currently but again because we don’t have a group to help)
🫶🏻professional pictures of adoptable cats - pictures are also important but time consuming

Huge thank you to the Karstens for sponsoring the following cats adoption fees! They wanted to sponsor some kitties that would be harder to place and boy do we feel we have enough of those!

Jilly - 1 year old, spayed female UTD on all vaccines and negative for FIV/FeLV

Valerie - 1-2 year old, spayed female UTD on all vaccines and negative for FIV/FeLV, does not prefer other female cats

Willie - 4 months old, scheduled to be neutered in September pending he kicks this new virus 🤦🏻‍♀️, rabies and third (‼️) snap test to be completed at the time of the neuter as well. He has tested negative for FIV/FeLV with other tests but appears to have a weakened immune system and has been yo-yoing with clearing the illness on antibiotics and starting it back up as soon as he finishes the meds. May need a home sensitive to his vision and immune system needs including noisy toys, no areas for steep falls, consideration of how the environment affects illness, and need for l-lysine to support.

These cats may have a waived adoption fee however! The same application process is required.

Stevie is still learning that we aren’t going to BBQ her! She doesn’t totally trust us just yet - she loves to smush herself down to be as small and little as possible. But!!!! She’s made the mistake of purring when held and her face is rubbed. So I know that she secretly loves the snuggles and isn’t made to be an outdoor kitty!

She is finishing off some antibiotics for the upper respiratory infection all the kittens in this colony have, getting fixed in September and hopefully to her forever home shortly!

We had a nice increase in adoptions but have now gone 2 weeks without an application on our form. We are at absolute capacity and shouldn’t even have this many to begin with until at least 3 adoptions occur. If you’ve been thinking of adopting, now is the time!!!

Lyla has the most precious resting grumpy face and Lyza has the cutest little ear tufts!!!! These two little girls love to run and keep each other busy.
Lyza is spayed, negative for FIV/FeLV and up to date on vaccines.
Lyla will be all those things after she gets fixed next month!
They don’t *haveeee to* go to the same home but we strongly recommend kittens going to home with other kittens or at least a playful adult. And why wouldn’t you want two adorable tabby babies 😻
