🐾 Wellness Wednesday: Is Your Pet Feeling Itchy?

A little scratching is normal, but frequent itching, licking, chewing, or recurring ear infections could be signs of allergies or another underlying skin condition.

Here are a few tips to help keep your pet comfortable:
✔️ Check your pet's skin and coat regularly for redness, hair loss, or irritation.
✔️ Stay up to date on flea prevention—fleas are a common cause of itchy skin.
✔️ If the itching doesn't improve or keeps coming back, schedule a visit with your veterinarian instead of relying on home remedies.

Summer adventures are in full swing! ☀️🐾 Whether your pet loves walks around the neighborhood, trips to the lake, hiking trails, or afternoons at daycare, it's important to protect their paws from hot surfaces.

Before heading outside, try the "5-second test"—place the back of your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your pet's paws.

A few paw protection tips:

🌳 Stick to grassy or shaded areas when possible
💧 Bring water for breaks along the way
🐶 Check paws after outdoor adventures for cuts, cracks, or irritation

🐾 We’re thrilled to be a vendor at the 4th Annual FunFest Walk N' Wag on Wednesday, July 22, from 5:30–7:30 PM at BarkBound!

Join us for an evening filled with family-friendly activities, featuring a 1-mile walk along the Greenbelt, tasty food trucks, local vendors, fun activities, crafts, nail trims, and enjoyment for both pets and their owners. 🐶💙

Make sure to visit our booth to say hi! We can’t wait to see you and will be bringing back our stuffed animal clinic for kids!

Meet Madison! 🐾 Born and raised in Tennessee, Madison has always had a deep passion for animals and feels grateful to spend each day caring for them. She truly loves almost every creature she meets and enjoys helping pets and their families at Oakwell.

When she's not at the clinic, you'll find her practicing ballet, embroidering, sewing, gaming with friends online, or planning her next adventure. Madison loves to travel and has explored several beautiful countries across Europe, including France, Germany, Slovakia, and Austria! ✈️🌍

A few fun facts about Madison:
🐸 She collects anything with frogs on it.
🩰 She once got to play a grandma in a Nutcracker performance!
