The Jekyll Island Authority’s Georgia Sea Turtle Center is a hospital for sick and injured sea turtles. The Center is open to the general public and offers an interactive exhibit gallery and rehabilitation pavilion with several viewable sea turtle patients. Group rates and tours are available.

Scuta underwent another surgery to treat their fibropapilloma tumors. During the procedure, 133 grams of tumors were removed from around the right front flipper!

Meet Onyx 🐍
Onyx is an eastern diamondback rattlesnake found crossing the road in 2024. Since then, he has had seven confirmed meals: six rabbits and one mystery rodent that we believe was a squirrel! Onyx is also the first snake in the conservation study to receive a solar-powered UHF tag, which allows our conservation team to automatically track his movements and learn more about his behavior.

dredging is an operation that keeps river channels deep enough for large ships to travel through? They have endangered species observers on board to help prevent interactions with wildlife, but sometimes accidents occur and a turtle might end up being sucked into the dredge machinery. Thankfully, these observers are quick to call us and bring them to the Center, which happened for this former patient Crinkleroot!
