Dehydration is one of summer's sneakiest dangers, because pets can't tell you they're thirsty, and the early signs are easy to miss. Knowing how to check can make all the difference. 💧

Try the skin test: gently lift the skin between your pet's shoulder blades and let go. In a well-hydrated pet, it snaps back quickly; if it's slow to fall, dehydration may be setting in. Other red flags include dry or tacky gums, sunken eyes, lethargy, and loss of appetite. If you notice these, offer water and call us.

It seems logical, it's hot, so off comes the fur, right? For double-coated breeds, it's often the opposite. That coat insulates against heat and shields skin from sunburn; shaving can leave your dog hotter and more exposed. ✂️

Instead, brush regularly to clear loose undercoat, offer shade and water, and ease up during peak heat. Not sure what's right for your breed? Just ask, we're always happy to help.
