Rehoming Alert...

An 85 year old senior resident is unfortunately no longer able to care for her beloved cat Milo and would like to find him a home where he will continue to be cherished and loved. Milo is a 1 year 2 month old male, gray tabby. He has been neutered and kept up to date on his vaccinations at Jasper Animal Hospital. Very sweet disposition, well mannered, and is an excellent senior companion cat (doesn't get underfoot or pose a trip hazard). Rehoming Alert...

The rescuers of these two homeless puppies are having to relocate and cannot continue caring for them. If you can open your heart and home to either of these sweet puppies please contact Erin Short (409) 336-7841 as soon as possible.

Bingo is a black and white male Border Collie mix that has been fully vetted, but has not yet been neutered. He was found being given away outside Walmart in terrible condition, but has since been growing into a healthy and happy puppy under the care of his rescuers. He's very sweet, smart and energetic.

Benji is a stray intact male tan and white Shih Tzu that was found on the side of Highway 62 last year that no one ever came forward to claim. He is very sweet, loves children, enjoys playing outside, and has a fun personality. He doesn't enjoy grooming and currently doesn't walk well on a leash, but with the right person and patience has the potential for improvement.

Clinic Update...

As you all know we are working on cleaning up Dr. Kahla's old veterinary practice building in Beech Grove to use for a low-cost community spay/neuter clinic that we plan to open in September of this year.

We still have a ways to go to get the space in tip top shape, but wanted to give a shout out to the Jasper County Sheriff's Department for lending us a hand. Specifically, we wish to thank Captain Bryan Marshall and his crew of trustee inmates for pitching in to help us give the interior a fresh coat of paint. We have been struggling to get everything needed accomplished in a timely manner to reach our goal date for opening and their hard work has helped us tremendously. The crew will be returning to help us over the next few weeks so for those who stopped by the other day or might be concerned by the sheriff's vehicle in the parking lot in the future we wanted to make sure you knew what is going on.

Again, thank you Sheriff Havard, Captain Marshall, and all the wonderful support provided by the Jasper County Sheriff's Department! We will keep you posted as we continue to progress towards the grand opening of the Kahla Memorial Humane Services Clinic.

Rehoming Alert...

Two male coonhounds, named Brown Dog and White Dog, were dumped as puppies in 2020 and taken in by an elderly gentleman who at 86 years old is now unfortunately having to be rehomed himself into an Assisted Living facility. He would very much like to see his boys go to a good home, hopefully together if possible. Both dogs are up to date on all their vaccinations and have been neutered. They are really well behaved and dog friendly, but do not do well with cats. Kitten Foster Urgently Needed...

A stray mama cat was hit by a car and killed leaving 5 orphaned kittens to fend for themselves. Luckily the kittens were found, but their rescuer travels out of town for work and cannot continue to care for them past next week. Loving Hearts cannot currently take them, but will if anyone can foster them until kennel space becomes available. The kittens are approximately 4-5 weeks old, appear to be healthy, and have begun eating canned kitten food while still receiving supplemental bottle feedings.

Puppy Alert...

Three 8-9 week old, terrier mix puppies are needing to find homes. The tan with white muzzle and forehead (on the right) is male and the other two are females (on the left). They have been treated for fleas, dewormed, and appear otherwise healthy but have not been seen by a vet. They are eating well on their own (dry and wet food) and are being potty pad trained. The black with white muzzle and paws is male and the brown with white muzzle, chest and paws is female.
