Casey Cat
May 15, 2022 I received a call about an injured cat at the Jasonville Casey's General store. I was told the cat looked like he had been attacked by a dog. When I attempted to pick him up, he scratched and bit....but he was pretty beat up (see first pics). The first Vet visit included X-rays where it was discovered that Casey had been shot at close range!!! He had several pellets still lodged! He was thought to be about 4/5 years old. Surgery was scheduled for neuter and to get the pellets removed.
Unfortunately, there were three pellets that were too close to major organs, so they had to stay.
Casey healed mostly. There was one area on his side that refused to heal. Dr. Rice knew it was the entry paths of one pellet still lodged next to his lungs. Casey had surgery again, the wound was cleaned, packed, and a drain tube inserted. Months passed and it still didn't heal.
By now Casey became one of the sweetest, most docile cat I ever had. We had to continuously clean the wound and he never minded.
I just know that some evil person called to him and he, very trustingly, walked right up only to be shot!
Casey has been our big baby. He always had plenty of snuggles and love to give. He did not deserve the hand he was given. I only hope he knows how much joy he gave and how much we loved him.

Unhappy update:
Unfortunately Casey just couldn't go on. His weak little body must have had infection somewhere. My daughter is devastated, to say the least. She gave Casey the best care and so much time, love, and effort the past week. Please say a pray for my daughter, her heart is broken.

UPDATE: Casey started running a fever so my daughter took him to the Vet this morning. They have him in the hospital due to a bad infection that has developed. Prayers are still appreciated 😔

Prayers for my sweet Casey Cat please. He is the one rescued at Casey's in Jasonville. He had wounds that were thought to be from an attack, only to find they were pellets from being shot at close range!
He has been doing pretty good until this summer when we noticed a mass/tumor forming in one of the entry paths.
After consultation, I agreed to allow surgery since everyone believed he had a great prognosis.

I'm still not sure. I feel horrible that he has been cut open from one side to the other 😞

Casey deserves so much better than life handed him ❤️

Casey update!
Casey has been released from the hospital and is under 24/7 care with my daughter. He is healing nicely. Thank you for the prayers and well wishes!!!
