I was feeling EPIC! The Jpegs came in from my trip to the Creation Entertainment Vampire Fan Weekend (plus a few selfies!), where I had the pleasure of meeting some of the actors from The Vampire Diaries, and the Originals🖤🥹🤗 i’ve always wanted to go to an event like this to experience it especially for a show that I love so much, that I still watch to this day occasionally. I’ve re-watched it so many times and I still cry. I went completely solo, I went for myself. Because I never really go to things like this and I wanted to have this experience!! it was absolutely amazing and I loved getting to hear the stories on how they got their roles on the show, fun behind the scenes moments, and just getting to hear from each of them! I’m so happy I did this!
After my photo with Ian and Paul, Ian leaned in and said “I just wanted to let you know that I made sure to look extra sexy”, and I said “oh stop you’re always sexy!” 🫠🫠🫠

All jokes aside, I LOVE getting kisses from the dogs I groom! I don’t mind when they need to sit down! I let them have their moments and then continue grooming as needed🤗💖 also I HAD to use this sound! Such a classic!

Matting happens. Life happens. Forgetting to brush your dogs happens! But it’s our jobs as professionals to not make the clients feel bad about it! Shaving them down in most cases is the best and safest option! That way they have the chance to start fresh, and you can maintain their coat easier as it grows, and also see what your dog looks like through each stage of the grow out process and figure out which way you like it best! Humanity over vanity means that we won’t put your dog through unnecessary painful de matting just to look “cute” for a haircut! I’m so grateful that all my clients do a great job maintaining their dogs coats in between grooming!

There’s been a LOT of conversation lately about the negativity and toxicity within the grooming industry, that I’ve been seeing online, and I think it’s a conversation worth having. 👏🏼

But I also think we need to be careful that, in the process of calling out toxic behavior, we don’t become part of the very negativity we’re trying to address.

I’ve been grooming since 2017, and I’ve seen firsthand how much this industry has to offer. The talent, creativity, education, friendships, and opportunities are incredible.

But there’s literally always room for improvement, and that includes how we treat one another.

You can disagree with someone’s techniques without disrespecting them.

You can offer constructive criticism without embarrassing someone.

You can be incredibly talented without making someone else feel inadequate.

And you can celebrate another groomer’s accomplishments without taking anything away from your own.

I don’t believe we all have to agree, and I certainly don’t believe we should ignore legitimate concerns about animal welfare or professional standards.

But there’s a difference between holding someone accountable and tearing someone down.

Accountability and kindness CAN coexist.

I’m not interested in contributing to the division. I’m interested in seeing our industry continue to grow into something we can ALL be proud of.

Because at the end of the day, we’re all working toward the same goal…providing the best possible care for the animals entrusted to us.

Less ego. More empathy. Less division. More education. 💜🐾

Let’s be the change we keep asking to see.

In all fairness, most of my fit comes from farm strength, lifting 50 pound bags of feed and huge bails of hay, along with lifting big dogs when needed at work. But I really should start actually working out, and stretching because this ain’t it! I talk a lot about self-care, but I’m slacking in that department.

Sometimes I wish I could go back and tell that girl in the Petco uniform where all of this was going to lead. 🥹

She was just learning.

Learning how to groom. Unsure if this was the right career path to take. Learning how to work with different dogs. Making mistakes, asking questions, gaining confidence, and slowly becoming the groomer I am today.

And I’ll never be embarrassed about where I started, because that chapter gave me the foundation for everything I have now.

Almost 10 years later, I still pick up a pair of shears and groom dogs for a living… but now I walk into a salon that I built, put on a shirt with MY business on it, work with dogs and families who have trusted me for years, and get to do things in a way that feels completely true to who I am.

There are definitely so many versions of me between her and me.

Some confident. Some terrified. Some exhausted. Some ready to give up. Some dreaming about a life that probably felt way too big at the time.

But every single one of them got me here.

Same groomer. Different chapter. 💜

And I have a strong feeling there are still a whole lot of chapters left to write. 🥹
