You win some, you lose some.

The expression of, “just leave well enough alone” comes to mind.

Meaning, I should have just left the colony that was queenless alone instead of combining a recent swarm with this colony and an effort to get them Queen right.

I’m not exactly sure how this happened, but I suspect that when I was moving frames around, I ended up rolling the queen.

Another big shout out to the Town of Holly Ridge. This time for putting on such an amazing festival.

The Liberty Festival & Fireworks festival was fantastic and as always, it was nice sharing our passion for beekeeping and our delicious local and raw honey with everyone that came out and stopped by our tent on Saturday.

Our honey press is another new piece of equipment we decided to add to our lineup this year and we sure are glad we did.

We are so surprised at the amount of residual honey that remains in the wax cappings.

This simple yet effective tool paid for itself the first time we used it.

Now it is part of our routine as we finish up a harvest.

One of the best parts of harvesting honey is the cleaning crew.

Here is a look at our bees eager to help clean the buckets.

Believe it or not, the bees will do such a good job of cleaning all honey residue from any surface, that’ll you’d never know honey was there in the first place.

So excited to get our Summer Honey harvested and into buckets.

We are going to let it settle before we begin bottling.

Stay tuned and keep an eye out for a post around Halloween as this limited edition, small batch becomes available.

The wait will be worth it as this honey has such a unique flavor compared to our Spring Honey.

Decided to give the HillCo, LLC Saber Knife a try. Right out of the box, I knew this was a good purchase and wouldn’t disappoint.
