Good Evening from Goldie!

🐾 Goldie Update 🐾

I spoke with the doctor yesterday afternoon and was able to pick up some medication to help keep Goldie as comfortable as possible. She prescribed three different medications to help manage his heart murmur. Unfortunately, regarding the mass she suspects he may have, there isn’t anything that can be done at this time and with his age.

Moving forward, it’s hard to know how much time we’ll have with this little angel, or if anything medically will change. For now, I started him on his medications last night and will continue them as recommended.

For the amazing, kind people who have asked to help with Goldie’s care, you can call the veterinarian directly at Shoreline Veterinary Hospital (910-238-2015) and let them know you’d like to donate to Goldie’s care. His account is listed under my name, Danielle Nix.

I truly appreciate everyone who so kindly offered to help. Any donations will go directly to Goldie’s care. Should there be anything left over when his time comes, I will donate it back to the vet to help other animals in similar situations—Operation Goldie.

If you prefer to help with supplies for his care( Potty pads, potty bands, sanitizing wipes are really the only few items right now we are using up very quickly. I take him out often but he has many accidents and seems he needs to potty more so than normal especially now that he is on a diuretic for the fluid retention 😥 I can be reached at 720-329-3084 and provide any info you'd like. Please know that my husband and I are not asking for donations, but we are so grateful to everyone who has offered their kindness and support.

Kind of a strange question but I didn't know if there was anyone out there that could do anything with a deceased owl maybe a science program or something like that? I believe it was recently hit. There is one on the road near my home. So sad. I would hate for the pour babies body to rot away

Update: I am still looking for the owners of the dog I found on Highway 53. No one has come forward to claim him.

When I found him, he was very matted and infested with fleas. I cleaned him up and took him to the vet yesterday to be assessed, as he is clearly older and not in the best health. The vet believes he most likely has cancer or an enlarged heart, and that he may not have much time left.

For now, I have named him Goldie, and he is staying with my husband and I. We recently relocated to NC and don’t currently have the financial means to take care of another pet, especially one needing extra medical care but he deserves more than being dropped off at a shelter. The shelters are already struggling themselves trying to help so many animals because of humans negligence! The amazing veterinarian, Dr. Slater at Shoreline Veterinary Hospital, was incredibly kind and only charged a small fee to see him.

I just can’t bring myself to take this sweet elderly gentleman to a shelter. I am truly trying to give grace to whoever his previous owner may be. Maybe they are elderly themselves, or going through something difficult. I would simply like to find his home in case someone out there loves and misses him.

Found OLD DOG on Hwy 53 near Blue Creek Elementary. The dog is Half Blind, was covered in fleas, clearly old and not in the best shape. Fortunately I am a groomer and was able to care for his grooming needs. It took 4 hours to get him cleaned up and remove all the fleas. Is this your dog? Does anyone now this dog or who it may belong to? He clearly is confused and probably misses his home. Any help would be appreciated to get him home or into a home that can care for him in his golden years. He deserves the best!

UPDATE Sierra has been ADOPTED. Thank you to the family that will be giving her a forever home!

Sierra Needs a Loving Home 🐾

Sierra’s owners are moving and can only take two of their three dogs, so this sweet girl is looking for a new home. She’ll be 2 years old in November and has the kindest heart. Sierra is located in Jacksonville North Carolina. She is a unspayed:(

Sierra is great with kids and has been around other dogs her whole life, so she’d likely do best with a canine companion. She’s a bit unsure about cats and tends to chase them, so a cat-free home might be best.
