Happy Halloween from all of us.

If your pet gets nervous with the doorbell and the costumes, set them up with a quiet room away from the front door and make sure their ID tags are current before the evening gets busy. A little calm goes a long way tonight.

Halloween is one of the easiest nights for a pet to slip out.

If your pet has fear, anxiety, or stress give us a call, we may be able to help.

The door opens again and again, costumes look strange to them, and even a calm pet can panic and bolt. A microchip with current contact information and possible medication are two of the best ways to make sure a lost pet finds their way back to you.

Important Pet Medication Recall

We want to make sure our clients are aware of a recent veterinary medication recall that may affect your pets.
Wedgewood Pharmacy LLC is voluntarily recalling nearly 4,000 compounded veterinary medications due to potential potency issues. The affected products were shipped nationwide between February 18, 2026, and October 6, 2026, to veterinary practices, pharmacies, and other customers. The recall includes various medications in forms such as powders, pastes, oral suspensions, injectables, ophthalmic ointments and solutions, ear solutions, topical sprays, and gels.

What does this mean for you and your pet?
If your pet is currently taking a compounded medication from Wedgewood Pharmacy, please check whether it's included in the recall. You can find the complete list of affected products, including lot numbers and expiration dates, here:

If your pet is on any recalled medications, we'll contact you. We know how important your pet's health and well-being are to you. If you have questions or concerns about a medication your pet is taking, please give our team a call. We're happy to help you understand what this means for your pet and determine any next steps.

With the candy bowl filling up, a quick reminder for pet families.

Chocolate, xylitol, and raisins are all dangerous for pets, and candy wrappers can cause problems of their own. Keep the stash somewhere your pet cannot reach, and remind the kids to do the same.

🐍💙 **Meet Indy — Our Very Special Slithery Visitor!** 💙🐍

Who says veterinary care is just for the furry and feathered? Not us! 🥰

Last week, the handsome **Indy, an Eastern Indigo Snake**, slithered into San Juan Animal Hospital for an examination with our very own **Dr. Jennifer Darby-LeGrange!** 🩺🐍

Eastern Indigo Snakes are truly remarkable reptiles! Native to the southeastern United States, these beautiful, nonvenomous snakes are the longest native snake species in North America and are federally protected as a threatened species. 🌿💚

These gentle giants play an important role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, and we're honored to have had the opportunity to care for such a special patient!

At San Juan Animal Hospital, we love celebrating the incredible diversity of the animal kingdom — whether they have fur, feathers, scales, or something in between! ❤️
