🎃 Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, which means more parties, more trick-or-treaters, and plenty of doorbell rings!

Keep your pet’s night more treat than trick with a few quick reminders:

🍫 Keep candy out of reach. Chocolate and xylitol are toxic to pets, so place the candy bowl where curious paws and noses can’t reach it.

👻Costume with comfort in mind. Make sure your pet can move, see, and breathe easily.

🚪 Create a calm space. Give your pet a quiet spot away from the door, doorbells, and trick-or-treaters.

Here are 10 signs your cat may be experiencing pain or discomfort:

🐱 Changes in appetite or thirst
🐱 Changes in posture
🐱 Sensitivity to touch
🐱 Changes in movement or mobility
🐱 Changes in grooming habits
🐱 Changes in litter box habits
🐱 Hiding more than usual

With Halloween this weekend remember:
🍫 Keep candy out of reach! Chocolate, sugar-free candy containing xylitol, and other Halloween treats can be toxic to pets.
🎭 Choose costumes carefully! Make sure costumes fit comfortably, allow normal breathing and movement, and don’t have small pieces your pet could chew or swallow.
🚪 Watch the doors! Frequent trick-or-treaters can make it easy for pets to slip outside. Keep them secure and make sure their ID tags and microchip information are current.
🕯️ Beware of decorations! Keep pets away from candles, cords, glow sticks, and decorations they might chew or swallow.
🐶 Reduce the fright! Loud noises, strangers, and busy gatherings can stress pets. Give them a quiet, comfortable place to relax.
🆘 Think your pet got into something toxic? Contact your veterinarian or an animal poison control service right away.
