Very good advice when raising your new puppy

“LEAVE HIM ALONE!”
That’s what my parents would yell if we went near our family dog while he was eating or chewing a bone.
It stuck with me—and it’s still a rule I follow today.
I’ve never had a dog with possession issues… because I don’t create them.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is nothing.
Teach your kids, your guests, and yourself: don’t touch a dog while they’re eating or chewing.
Pick your fights. Not everything needs to be corrected.
Let your dog be a dog. 🐾

We often get asked what is included on a puppies temperament test that we do around seven weeks before we decide who is going to what home. Here is an example of a little of what we do. A stranger takes the puppy out into a new place away from us and we evaluate their confidence level and willingness to engage in plays with the new person. We also do test sight sensitivity and sound sensitivity. This was our Akira with our good friend Lisa.
