🐰 Weekly Update – 4 to Go! 🐰

On August 4th, we reported needing just 7 more placements (adoptions or new foster homes) before we can reopen to rabbit intake.

Here’s our Bunny Tetris progress this week:

✨ New Foster Care Placement:
– Mariska

🔁 Backfilled Foster Spaces (No Net Change):
– Gunther
– Imala

🏡 Moved to the Rabbit Adoption Center:
– Betsy
– Honey

While there were no new adoptions this week, every shuffle and placement counts toward making space for rabbits still waiting for rescue.

💥 We’re now down to just 4 more placements needed — 1 bonded pair and 3 rabbits currently housed at our adoption center — until we can officially reopen for rescue intake!

Please continue to support us by:
✅ Sharing our adoptable rabbits
✅ Talking to friends & family about fostering
✅ Donating if you’re able

Together, we can give more rabbits their second chance.

🐰 Weekly Update: Bunny Tetris Progress! 🧩

As of July 30, we reported 9 adoptions or new foster homes were needed before Indiana HRS could reopen to new intakes. Here’s the progress we’ve made this week — one hop at a time!

✅ Adoptions:
• Polly
• Buttons
• Georgia

🏡 New Foster Homes:
• Tabitha
• Amelia (our special needs girl!)

🐰 Other Changes:
• We took in Amelia (welcome, sweet girl!)
• Polly’s foster space was closed
• Georgia’s overflow spot was vacated

That leaves us with just 7 more placements to go before we can start helping rabbits waiting for rescue again!

💬 Help us keep the momentum going:
✅ Share our adoptable rabbits
✅ Talk to friends and family about fostering
✅ Support our work however you can

Every space we free up means hope for another rabbit. Thank you for being part of this mission. We have attached the photos of rabbits that are in “overflow” spaces and require foster care homes or adoptive homes (yep, we know this is 8 not 7 🫣) 🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐇 💗💗💗

🚨 Special Needs Rabbit Rescue Story 🚨

Meet Amelia EARheart — a brave and beautiful bunny who has already endured more than her share.

Although we are currently closed to intakes, we could not turn our backs on Amelia after learning her story. She was found alone in a home after her caregiver passed away — a heartbreaking situation made worse when we saw the condition she was in.

🐰 Her eyes were crusted shut.
🐰 Her coat was dull and unkempt.
🐰 She was scanning despite likely being blind.

Amelia went straight to our rabbit-savvy vet. Here’s what we learned:
🔬 Most likely blind
🔬 Possible dental concerns (visual)
🔬 Possible neurological symptoms
🔬 BUT… she tested negative for EC (Encephalitozoon cuniculi) — a bit of good news!

She’s now on multiple medications: antibiotic eye drops, anti-inflammatory eye drops, and pain relief. Her foster mom reports that Amelia is feeling safe and confident enough to toss her toys (and sass!) into her water bowl and litterbox — we love to see this spirit emerging. 💗

Amelia’s journey is just beginning. She has a recheck on August 2nd, likely followed by an ophthalmology consult, potential eye surgery, and spay surgery.

✨ We’re committed to giving her the life and care she deserves — but we need your help.

🙏 Please consider donating to support Amelia’s medical care. Every dollar goes directly to providing life-changing veterinary treatment. Donate to this fundraiser or via the PayPal link in comments, and share her story to help us reach more compassionate hearts.

Amelia’s rescue pictures are in the comment section. Her inflamed eyes might be hard to see 💔

Thank you for standing with us — and with Amelia.

🎉 Foster & Adoption Update – 9 to Go! 🎉

On July 5th, we shared that we needed 12 more placements (adoptions or foster homes) to reopen to new intakes. Thanks to your amazing support, we're now down to just 9 to go!

Here’s how our recent bunny Tetris has shaped up:

🏡 New Foster Homes:

Daria
Striker
Peaches

🎉 Adopted:

Adalyn
Rosalina
Reilly
Spice
Bella
Rewby
Kelsa
Blair

🐰 New Intake: Havyn (fit into an existing open space)

🚪 Changes in Foster Availability:

Peaches’ foster home discontinued fostering
Marie, Starlight, and Adalyn's spaces weren’t backfilled
Blair and Reilly adoptions freed up overflow spaces
Rosalina's foster space is on hold for a move
Kelsa adoption without backfill provided respite for a foster home that needed a break 🤕

💬 That brings us to 9 more placements needed before we can reopen to the rabbits who are still waiting for rescue. Every single space matters.

📢 How can you help?

🐰💔 Meet Havyn: From Forgotten to Forever Cared For 💔🐰

We recently responded to a heartbreaking call for help—a stray domestic rabbit was spotted, alone and vulnerable. When our volunteers caught her, we learned her painful story: 6 years old, bred every 6 weeks, her babies sold for meat, and when her mate died, she was discarded outside like garbage.

We intended to surrender her to the county shelter… until we noticed something was very wrong with her hop.

🚨 Our instincts told us to act fast. The very next day, Havyn was evaluated by our vet. X-rays revealed a devastating surprise—a poorly healed spinal fracture. 💔

Despite being closed to intakes, we couldn’t turn our backs. We welcomed Havyn with open arms. She’s now on meloxicam for pain, and her living space has been adapted to accommodate her injury. We also ran bloodwork to ensure the medications are safe for her long-term, and she has now been spayed so she never has to suffer through breeding again.

📸 We’re sharing her radiographs, photos, and a video (in comments) of her hop so you can see her journey.

✨ We need your help to continue giving Havyn the life she finally deserves. Her urgent care, radiographs, lab work, medication, and spay were unplanned and costly. She will need ongoing medication and monitoring to stay comfortable.

💖 Please consider donating to support Havyn’s recovery—every dollar makes a difference. You can give through our Facebook fundraiser or via PayPal (link in comments).

Thank you, bunny lovers. Together, we are Havyn’s second chance. 🐇💕

Odin Update:

Odin has made a full recovery from his enucleation, ear abscess, and neuter. His sweet personality has truly blossomed over the last month. He loves attention, pets, and hanging out by the air vent to stay cool. He’s also very curious about his neighbor—he just might be hinting that he’d like a friend!

We learned that Odin is an older gentleman and has some arthritis. He’s now on daily pain medication, which is helping him feel great and stay active. Grooming is still tough for him, but he’s always grateful for a helping hand—and he’ll reward you with sweet kisses while you groom/pet him.

We don’t know much about Odin’s early life, but he’s making the most of this new chapter. When he first arrived, he didn’t even know what to do with a salad… now it’s the highlight of his day! He zooms all over when his “waitress” brings dinner and charms everyone he meets!

Odin is living his best life in rescue, and we’re so lucky to be part of his journey. He still has one more RHDV2 vaccination to go before he is ready for his furever home.

We are thrilled that , our oldest adoptable rabbit, found her happily ever after 🥰🐰💗

Intake Update – 12 Placements to Go!

On April 28, we shared that Indiana HRS needed 25 adoptions or new foster homes before we could reopen to intakes. 👉 https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1077147037784357&id=100064672122405&mibextid=wwXIfr
