❤️Meet Watson!❤️

Watson is a 12 year old dachshund looking for his forever cuddle partner! He is a little snuggle bug with a gentle demeanor. Watson is very much a Velcro dog and loves to be right by his person’s side. He also enjoys napping in cozy beds and going for walks outside! He is very treat motivated and eager to please. He recently had all his teeth extracted so no more dentals! He can still eat small kibble. He also has alopecia with some patches of hair missing but does not require treatment and does not bother him. His recent bloodwork came back all normal and he has no heart murmurs! Watson came to the rescue overweight and still needs to lose a few pounds but is doing well losing weight currently. He has also come very far with his potty training and with a little more consistency should do very well! He gets along great with my small older dogs but is unsure with big dogs. Does well with kids. Unsure about cats. If anyone has any questions, is interested in or knows someone who might be interested in adopting this sweet gentleman please message me with any questions. Also feel free to share. Link below is to his profile and adoption application:

Hi Friends! Some things to talk about, FIRST< Craig has his surgery consult tomorrow morning and as of now he has had 4 vet visits in a week. His condition is serious. He can't pass stool without lots of intervention. He's uncomfortable. Otherwise he's a normal and happy boy. We wouldn't pursue treatment if there were no hope of helping him and definitely if he were going to have lifelong issues. If the surgical consult points to him having lifelong suffering, we will make the best choice for Craig.
Stella that we highlighted on here before is doing very well in her foster home and we've learned more about her and her behaviors. She has to have people around, She loves walks and meeting new people. She needs a predictable routine. She prefers to sleep with her people. Leaving Stella alone is not beneficial and causes her distress. She is fine with cats, a little curious but not mean. She guards food and toys, but as yet not malicious about it. She would do best in a home with older kids and adults. Stella rides great in a car.
We had to say goodbye to one of our long term fosters today, His name was Jake, a JRT that has been with his foster for a couple of years, We knew he was elderly and had a mast cell type of tumor, right after we got him into rescue. He developed a rapidly growing mass that began bleeding and it was in an awkward spot. Jake had 2 good years with rescue. He will be missed. He was probably 15 years old. Much love to his foster who took great care of him.
Like always we are trying to provide care for multiple pets that need help, and continue to care for pets in our care, seniors and long term fosters in Indianapolis and in Chihuahua Rescue Crown Point. We care for community pets that need spays and neuters and return them to their owners, because some owners need help to care for their pets, but they love them. We have many many that need to come to rescue and some fosters ASKING for pets, but we have to be sure the pet we place with them is a good fit. IF it isn't, then it creates a problem as there are just so many places to put our fosters. Moving pets after they're placed is sometimes unavoidable but we don't always have a spot to move pets to. Adoptions go at their own pace. If you have applied to foster, please message us to help us find you the proper pet for your home.

Meet Petey! 🐾

At 10 years young, Petey is ready to trade the hustle and bustle of life for something a little more peaceful. A cozy retirement home where he can be loved, spoiled, and spend his days doing what he does best: hanging out with his people, taking long naps, and soaking up the sunshine! ☀️

Petey is a sweet Chihuahua/Pug mix and a proud little tripod. He lost one of his back legs in an accident, but don’t let that fool you. He gets around just fine and doesn’t let his missing leg slow him down!

Petey absolutely loves his people and, once he decides you're his person, you can expect a loyal little shadow following you around. He is the definition of a Velcro dog and would happily spend his days right by your side.

He currently lives in a home with young children and another dog. He does well coexisting with everyone, but Petey would probably tell you that a quieter household is more his speed these days. He'd love a calm home where he can relax and enjoy his golden years without too much commotion.

Petey recently had a dental, resulting in four teeth being removed, but he's doing great and is still able to enjoy regular kibble. He also takes heart medication twice a day and he's an absolute champ about it!

Petey is neutered and up to date on his vaccines, and what he really needs now is someone who will give him the peaceful, loving retirement he deserves.

If your idea of the perfect companion is a sweet little guy who wants to be close to you, nap nearby, and enjoy a sunny spot in the yard, Petey might just be your perfect match. ❤️

I need to talk about our most recent guy that came from IACS.
His name is Craig. He is the CUTEST, SWEETEST, SNUGGLY, and LOVABLE little 7 # chihuahua.

There is a but and it is a BIG one.

Craig has a condition called a perineal hernia, and on top of that he has a significant heart murmur. A double whammy 😔.
The hernia makes passing stool (pooping) very difficult. So, he is miserable.
We have him on a special diet, and medications to help with this, but its not enough. He has to be sedated to get the stool out of his colon, which is hard on his heart. 😭

We don't know exactly how extensive the hernia is, but looking from the outside it appears to involve the entire re**al area. He has no muscle tone at this time, so on his own he isn't able to eliminate.

We never want to throw in the towel say it’s over, for any pet, without a thorough evaluation, and at this point Craig has seen 4 general vets. Three in one practice and one at another.

Currently he's at MedVet in Carmel. The belief is he could have surgery, it will be extensive and might allow him to poo on his own or he might be incontinent, or it might not work at all. It will be painful and he's a little guy with a heart condition.

So is this really where we want to go?

Our deposit for ER care at Medvet is $1000 for a $1500 bill. Surgery will be $6000-10000 at Medvet, IF he's a surgical candidate.

We won't know for a day or more. There has to be a high likelihood of a positive outcome before we will put him through such a gruesome surgery that is painful and has a painful recovery.

Craig can use all the prayers and we can use donations to cover his mounting costs. There's always pets in need, Craig or others like him. You folks are the best.

Thank you so much.
