Today I showed up to the farm and was met with a blessing. 🙏🏽🤗
A group of women from our church day of service came out to help, and what unfolded was so much more than just getting work done. We pulled weeds, fed the chickens (yes, crushed eggshells and all—great for calcium), and spent time just being present in the space.
I haven’t been out there in weeks between a broken foot and working full-time, so to walk into that kind of energy—hands willing, hearts open—meant more than I can really put into words.
There were questions everywhere.
“What’s this plant?” — nettle.
“And this?” — thyme. 🌿
“Wait, strawberries?!” 🍓
At one point someone asked, “How do you know all of this?”
And I just smiled… experience, curiosity, and a whole lot of time in the dirt.
We talked about how the things we call “weeds” often carry their own kind of medicine. We laughed about the chickens (and yes, learned a few things there too 😅). There was curiosity, a little cock-a-doodling (iykyk 😜), learning, and even more connection.
Sometimes I feel like I’m just holding onto a bunch of random, useless knowledge… but days like today remind me it’s not useless at all. It’s meant to be shared.
To stand there—hands in the dirt, soul open, feet grounded—and teach, connect, and receive help from other women in a space that feels so deeply spiritual to me… that’s what this is all about. 🌿
