Our March raw feeding tip of the month is for pet owners who have smaller dogs and who want to feed meaty bones, but aren't sure which options are the safest .
While larger bones like beef neck bones might not work for smaller-sized dogs, duck necks, feet, or wings are great mid-sized options that will allow your dog to reap all the health benefits of raw meaty bones in a more size-appropriate form.

Many pet owners think that raw dog food is inaccessible, but we're here to bust that myth!

Feeding your pets whole prey provides enrichment for them and helps to strengthen their jaws. Whole sardines in particular are great to incorporate into your pet's DIY raw meals for a variety of reasons!
Sardines are a reliable natural source of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosatetraenoic acid (ETA), two essential omega-3 fatty acids that dogs do not produce on their own. Not only are these omega-3s essential for all dogs, promoting healthy skin and coat, but ETA and DHA are particularly important in young puppies in that they support brain development.
Our sardines are IQF Wild Caught Sardines with the head, skin, and edible bone all intact. Remember, these should be fed as a supplemental part of a well-rounded raw meal, not as a full meal replacement.

How We Started.
Peter Beukers started making his own raw diet for his two fur babies, Pece and Tawney (pictured in our logo), out of the necessity of better nutrition than what was being offered commercially. Using human grade meats, organs, fruits and vegetables Peter came up with the Healthy Variety Mix meals for his two fur babies. One day, while visiting his vet, Peter was approached by a concerned pet owner about the health of his two fur babies. She was amazed with their coats, teeth, and definition. She approached Peter later on about making a ground meat mix for their ailing dog and he agreed to share his homemade meals with her. The ailing dog's health flourished and over time, through word of mouth, TQDF came to fruition.
