From handling spicy patients to navigating the daily chaos of veterinary medicine, Blake brings his skills, humor, and hard work to the team every day. We're lucky to have him - especially since he can reach the high shelves without a stepstool.

🎃👻A Spooktacular Schedule Update! 👻🎃

We'll be closing early on Halloween so our team can trade their scrubs for costumes.

We will be closing at 4:00 pm on Friday.

Please plan ahead for any medication refills or pet needs before we close. We hope all our furry friends and their humans have a safe & happy Halloween!

Happy Veterinary Technician Week!

This week we are celebrating the heartbeat of our hospital, our incredible vet techs!

From cuddles to blood draws to calming nervous pets, supporting our doctors, and cleaning up the occasional💩 disaster... our vet techs do it ALL! They're compassionate, hardworking, skilled, patient, and just the right amount of crazy to thrive in this field. 😉 They pour their hearts into caring for our patients and supporting our team every. single. day. Veterinary medicine and Hurricane Animal Hospital wouldn't be the same with out these amazing people! 💚

Did you know Veterinary Career Day is next Saturday at WVU?

This is a great opportunity for high school and undergraduate students to learn about veterinary medicine, programs that help with tuition and pre-vet applications and interviews. There will also be veterinary technician programs on site so all aspects of our career are being represented.

Jennifer Sette will be there Friday evening and Saturday. If you have questions about the program or the Davis Michaels Scholarship opportunities please reach out for more information.

Be aware there are still positive rabies cases on a regular basis in OUR area. Most people are unaware of pets or livestock exposures until that symptoms have spend and treatment options are no longer available. Make sure your pets Rabies vaccines are kept up to date!💉

A bat that has tested positive for rabies was found in Kanawha County. KCHD’s Health Officer, Dr. Steven Eshenaur, advises everyone to be mindful that rabies is present in the valley and to never approach animals that appear to be injured, sick, or dead. Call Animal Control at 304-342-1576 ext. 116 if you see/touch a sick animal. Go to the ER if bitten or scratched by a bat or other sick animal.
