A flea can jump roughly 150 times her own body length — the equivalent of a human clearing a football field in a single leap. She doesn't need to climb. She launches.

She waits in shaded grass at ankle height. When you brush past, she jumps onto the shoe or sock and climbs from there.

🌿 The difference between fleas and ticks: ticks are slow — they grab on and crawl for hours. Fleas are fast — the jump and the first bite can happen within minutes. By the time you feel the itch, she's already fed and moved.

🐾 What reduces them in the yard:

- Mow grass short in shaded areas — fleas concentrate in moist shade under decks, bushes, and pet resting spots
- Remove leaf litter and yard debris from areas where pets rest
- Treat pet bedding and resting areas — that's where flea eggs accumulate
- Tuck pants into socks in tall grass — same ankle-height contact zone as ticks

She didn't fall from a tree. She jumped from the grass — and she's faster than you think 🌿
