Meet Clarabelle! We did on our recent visit to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh, NY. Poor Clarabelle is so kennel-stressed!😥
She did great in her temporary foster home recently! Who wants to give her a chance?
Clarabelle is a sweet, shy girl looking for a patient, loving home. At 5.5 years old, she's playful and enjoys attention, though she's still building trust with new people. She's not interested in toys but loves engaging with her favorite humans. Clarabelle can be nervous on a leash and would do best with an experienced owner who can help her build confidence. She's friendly with strangers but may need time to warm up. Clarabelle would thrive in a home with older kids (12+) and a secure yard. If you're looking for a gentle companion to bond with over time, Clarabelle could be your perfect match!

We were lucky enough to meet Rodney on our recent visit to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh, NY.
Rodney arrived at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter back in May of 2024 with two other dogs. The other two have been adopted into loving homes as Rodney wonders why he is still waiting all alone. Rodney is 4 years old and as you can see ADORABLE! He is eager to please, easy on the leash, and is quickly picking up his commands. He is recommended for a home with experienced adults only, Rodney is playful and engaging with female dogs and can be placed in a home with them pending a meet n greet. Please come meet Rodney! He truly is a hidden gem who would forever be grateful to the person who gives him a chance!

FOUND on the train tracks!!! 🆘 TBD at the Manhattan ACC.
PERRY is 2 years old.
***If you could Foster or Adopt, please text or call Long Island Pit Stop at 917-685-8422.
Gentle, affectionate, soft and shyly sweet, this little guy will always find a way to crawl into your lap. PERRY arrived emaciated and in need of TLC. He qu**ky got the dreaded shelter cold and then pneumonia, which he is recovering from. But none of this has stopped him from enjoying the cuddles and comfort of his volunteer friends and the medical staff who have fallen in love with this boy whose ears seem to have a life of their own. They bring a smile to your face every time you see him. Watch his video below, and then PLEASE consider giving him a home by fostering or adopting him.

This absolutely precious little guy has a movie!
Playtime for Perry!

We met Rex recently at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh, NY. Rex is a playful, treat-loving terrier mix with a heart full of love-and he's ready to share it with his forever family! At just 2.5 years old, Rex brings the perfect mix of youthful energy and budding confidence. He may be a little shy when meeting new people, but give him a little time and a few tasty treats, and Rex will quickly show you his softer side. Once he feels comfortable, he's all about gentle eye contact, tail wags, and fun play sessions. Toys? Yes, please! Rex is especially fond of ropes and balls, and he's a champ at trading toys for treats. Smart and eager to please, Rex already knows several basic cues like sit, down, paw, stay, and come. He's still working on his leash manners, but with consistency and positive reinforcement, he's sure to improve in no time. Rex is friendly but cautious with new faces and would thrive in a calm, patient home where he can build trust at his own pace. Because of his jumpy play style and need for gentle handling, he'd do best with teens (16+). If you're looking for a bright, spirited pup who just needs a little time and love to truly shine, Rex might be your perfect match. He's ready to learn, ready to play-and most of all, ready to love.
