🤔 NAME THIS CONDITION! 🐶

This growth is commonly seen in puppies and young dogs. It’s caused by a virus and often appears as a small, cauliflower-like mass on the lips, gums, tongue, or inside the mouth.

Can you guess what it is? 👇

Drop your answer in the comments before looking at everyone else’s guesses!

💡 Hint: It’s usually harmless and often goes away on its own as a puppy’s immune system matures.

Answer will be posted in the comments tomorrow! 🐾

☀️ Traveling with your pet this summer?
Does your pet hate the car? 🚗🐾

Panting, pacing, drooling, whining, vomiting, or refusing to get in the vehicle can all be signs of stress or motion sickness. The good news is there are ways we can help make travel safer and more comfortable for your pet.

From training tips and calming strategies to medications and supplements, we can help find an option that fits your pet’s needs and your travel plans.

Give us a call to discuss travel anxiety and motion sickness before your next trip!

🦴 “But my dog LOVES antlers and Nylabones…”
Unfortunately, this is one of the reasons we do not recommend them.

These types of hard chews can lead to painful slab fractures, broken teeth, exposed pulp, and eventually infections or extractions. The damage often happens silently — many pets continue eating and acting normal despite significant dental pain.

A good rule of thumb:
If you can’t make an indent in it with your fingernail, it’s probably too hard for your dog’s teeth.

Safer alternatives may include:
• Rubber-based chew toys
• VOHC-approved dental chews
• Softer nylon or flexible chew products appropriate for your dog’s size and chewing style

If you notice a broken tooth, sensitivity, drooling, facial swelling, or bad breath, we recommend scheduling an oral exam. Dental pain is very easy for pets to hide.

🐾 We’ve heard some people refer to Bravecto Quantum as the “tick vaccine,” but it’s important to know that it is NOT actually a vaccine. 🐾

💉 The Lyme vaccine is a true vaccine. It helps your dog build protection against Lyme disease if exposed to an infected tick.

🛡️ Bravecto Quantum is a long-acting flea and tick preventative. It works by killing ticks after they attach, helping reduce the risk of transmitting diseases like Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, and Ehrlichia.

While both help protect against tick-borne disease, they work in completely different ways. Many dogs may benefit from using both depending on their lifestyle and exposure risk.

If you have questions about what protection is best for your pet, we’d be happy to discuss it with you!

🍔🌭 Grilling season is here — but be careful what ends up in your dog’s bowl.

Fatty foods from the grill like burgers, hot dogs, steak trimmings, bacon, and greasy leftovers can trigger pancreatitis in dogs. Pancreatitis is a painful inflammation of the pancreas that can sometimes become very serious.

Signs to watch for include:
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Lethargy
• Loss of appetite
• Abdominal pain

Even if those puppy eyes are convincing, it’s safest to avoid sharing rich or greasy foods from the grill. Instead, stick to pet-safe treats and keep your cookout fun and safe for everyone. 🐾

⛈️ Thunderstorms can be very frightening for some pets — and for many families, storm season can be stressful to watch.

If your pet paces, shakes, pants, hides, whines, refuses food, or tries to stay glued to your side during storms, you are not alone. Anxiety during thunderstorms is very real, and some pets struggle more than others.

There are several ways we may be able to help, including:
• Creating a calm, safe environment at home
• Calming supplements or pheromone products
• Anxiety wraps
• Prescription medications for pets with more severe fear or panic

Our goal is to help keep your pet as comfortable and relaxed as possible during storms. If you feel your pet is struggling, please reach out — we would be happy to discuss options that may help. 🐾
