When Bagel first arrived from a severe hoarding situation in New York, he didn’t know what it meant to be a dog. The world was overwhelming. Leashes, toys, even simple affection felt confusing and scary.
But our staff and volunteers never gave up on him—or any of the “Bread Boys.” They learned how to move slowly, how to respect each dog’s space, how to sit quietly and let trust grow at its own pace. They celebrated tiny victories: a glance, a sniff, a step forward. They showed him, day after day, that people can be safe, soft, and steady.�His new family met him exactly where he was. They didn’t rush his milestones or try to rewrite his story overnight. Instead, they gave him patience, consistency, and room to grow.
This brave boy has officially taken his first leash walk with confidence—and he absolutely adores his new pack. He’s discovering the joy of companionship, routine, and a home that finally feels like his own.
From a frightened dog who didn’t know how to approach people to a loved family member learning how to live, love, and explore the world—this is what rescue is all about.
And while Bagel is now enjoying his fairytale ending, we still have a few of our Bread Boys—Focaccia, Baguette, Challah, and Brioche—who are patiently waiting for a happy ending of their own. They’ve come just as far, worked just as hard, and are so ready for families who will meet them where they are, just like Bagel’s did.

The holidays are a time for joy, laughter, and sharing life with those who make every day brighter. Sometimes, that perfect gift has four paws and a wagging tail. 💛✨

Remy is still waiting for his forever home — a place where his puppy spirit, playful energy, and big heart can truly shine. At just 11 months old, this Goldendoodle is full of zoomies, curiosity, and pure happiness. 🎄🐾

While we’re decking the halls at YGRR, Remy is dreaming of celebrating his first holidays curled up in a home filled with adventure, routine, and love. He’s a fun-loving pup who’s always ready for a hike, a game of fetch, or a squeaky toy marathon, and he thrives with adopters who can give him structure, guidance, and plenty of playtime.

New faces can make him a little vocal at first, but give him a moment, and his goofy, affectionate personality shines through. Remy enjoys other dogs and would love a canine companion who can keep up with his playful energy. He promises endless laughs, daily movement, and a whole lot of love.

This season is all about giving, and sometimes the greatest gift you can give is understanding. 💛✨

Lucien is still searching for a family who can love him exactly as he is, a joyful, curious, one-of-a-kind golden boy who turns ONE at the end of this month. 🎂🐾

While we are decking the halls here at YGRR, Lucien is hoping his very first birthday candle will be blown out in a home of his own, not a kennel. 🎄🧦 He does not need someone perfect, just someone patient, open-hearted, and ready to embrace his quirks with the same enthusiasm he brings to every day.

Lucien has hydrocephalus, which gives him a few unique traits, such as spinning in excited circles, occasional head tremors, and still working on potty training. However, it never dims his spark. He loves people, loves to explore, and has never met a dog he couldn't be friends with. He is simply looking for someone who sees the beauty in the different.

Agneau and Gigot just celebrated their birthday week, and while our staff and volunteers made sure they were showered with love, treats, and all the attention they could want, their hearts are still wishing for something far more meaningful. 💛✨

Sweet Agneau had to spend part of her birthday at the vet, but she is feeling much better now. Gigot waited for her, missing his sister the whole time. When they were finally reunited, the way they leaned into each other said everything — they are each other’s comfort, their constant, their home.

But they deserve a real home of their own.
Not a kennel.
Not just a temporary space.
A forever place where they can spend their nights curled up beside a family instead of the quiet of a rescue.

As the holidays approach, these two gentle souls have one simple wish: to begin the winter wrapped in warmth, stability, and love. 🎄🐾

They have spent too many milestones in rescue. They are ready to start their next chapter — together — in a home where they can finally exhale.
