This is Hannah. She is approximately 2 years old. She’s a love, a sit next to you on the couch kitty and a lap cat. Hannah will be available for adoption in 2 weeks. Hannah will do best in a quiet home with no other cats, no dogs and no young children. We did it again 🎉🎉 51 more cats from rural areas of North Carolina and South Carolina flew to New England last week to start a better life.
Carolina Cat Rescue coordinated the travel arrangements for our 11 passengers and 3 other rescue organizations sent an additional 40 kitties for a 51 total count.
Anyone associated with animal welfare knows that volunteers and staff face long days, heartache, guilt, and pain. Volunteers and staff in rural shelters and counties are heroes to many unwanted pets. Quietly and without praise or adoration they spend day in and day out facing more unwanted animals, unexpected illnesses, low funds and public scrutiny when there is no room for more.
But then there are days like last week when we get a big win and get 51 to safety.
Many of the kitties that traveled had been in foster care for a while - some weeks, some months, some nearly a year. All are worth saving no matter how long it takes to get them healthy and ready for a furever home.
Thank again to Pilots To The Rescue for flying our kitties a big chunk of the way.

Little G & Jack are sweet older brothers who recently lost their home due to their owner passing away. No one else in the family wanted them.
Little G is the more outgoing of the two. He's a big talker with a lot to say. He loves to be petted and loves attention.
Jack can be a little bit more reserved at first but warms up very quickly. He also loves head scratches and to be petted. His favorite thing to do is sun himself in a nice window and is front declawed.
They are around 10 years old.

***Urgent Foster Needed***
We are looking for a foster for this beautiful girl Victoria! When she came to us, she appeared pregnant, but it turns out she wasn't. She went to the clinic to be vetted so we could find her a home but during surgery, the vet found cancer. She has had some follow up with the vet and we are awaiting results to see where we go from here medically. Meanwhile her foster mom is going on vacation so we need to move her today. (May 19th) This could be a foster while we determine if we can help her or could be a hospice foster to keep her comfortable and happy. If anyone is interested in helping this girl, please comment here or send us a private message. Thank you.
Adele is a 9 year old volunteer at Happy Tails. She has worked in both Chelmsford & Hudson. She takes her work very seriously! She is also on her school's Student Council, and when they were looking for a fundraiser, Adele suggested Happy Tails! She helped put together a presentation as well as a video. Thanks Adele!
Three words of advice for reaching out to animal rescuers: assume the best.
Assume that if you’re reaching out to someone who does animal rescue, you’re reaching out to someone who has a huge heart. Assume that they care deeply about saving lives. Assume that if they don’t respond to you right away, or at all, it’s because they’re so busy helping animals. Assume that you’re the 10th, 20th, or 100th person to reach out to them today asking for help. Assume that if they can’t help you, it’s because they are already at max capacity. Assume that you do not know or see a fraction of what is on their plate. Assume that they might be exhausted. Assume that they might be grieving, or tender. Assume that they are a loving, kind person who is a source of good for the world. Assume that they are worthy of being treated with consideration and respect. Assume that they are human.
Because 9 times out of 10, if you assume these things about an animal rescuer, you will be right. So when you reach out to an animal rescuer, let your words be filled with gratitude, patience, and understanding. Don’t use your words to jab at animal rescuers for not being available enough, not doing more, not “caring,” not being able to single-handedly save the world. Treat animal rescuers with compassion, not just when they can help you, but even—and especially—when they can’t. And when they can’t, don’t assume the worst. Assume the best.

Moe used to spend a lot of time hiding in his cubby, but recently he's been spending more time exploring. He likes to sit under the cat tree and on top of it. He is becoming more social. Does everybody remember Harmony? Our Mom that gave birth pre-maturely during transport? Well look at her now with her 3 babies! Melody is extremely lucky as her foster Mom is adopting her! We have several babies in foster care so if anyone is able to donate kitten food &/or litter they would appreciate it! Thank you everyone for your support and help. Lovely Stella just arrived at PetSmart Everett, she is settling in nicely. She is a beautiful, 3 -5 year old grey tabby girl who was abandoned by her family and then rescued in Malden. While we'll never understand how anyone could just dump their pet, leaving them to fend for themselves, we are grateful to Brian from Melrose Humane for getting this girl to safety. She is still slightly shy, but as you can see, she is very sweet and will give an abundance of head boops. When she is resting on her comfy blanket, she will look at you while she purrs and makes sweet biscuits. She would do well with another friendly cat with proper introduction and is probably good with children, we don't know about dogs. Amelia and Orville are bonded and need to be adopted as a pair, Wilbur is hoping for a home with another friendly kitty so he doesn't get lonely. At approximately 4 months old, The Flyers will likely be the last of young kittens we may have for a while, kitten season has ended. Happy FURiday Friends! Meet Black Jack, our newest kitty at PetSmart Everett Adoption Center. He's 2 - 3 years old and was rescued as part of a TNR clinic and thought to be feral, hence the ear tip. As you can see, he doesn't have a feral hair in his beautiful black coat!
