Reactivity from your vehicle. Big issue for many people. My immediate answer is to crate the dog with a light sheet over the crate and a good high value, self soothing chew such as a bully stick. Then proceed to take the dog in the vehicle on lots of errands and desensitize them to riding in the vehicle and change the habits they have developed. Gradually roll up sides of the sheet to expose more and more of the kennel and give them visibility. This dog’s owners would like to have her relax in the backseat on some car rides so we are specifically working on that with Misty without using a kennel. Her neurotic behavior is not only distracting and annoying for the owners while they are driving, but it is very unhealthy for Misty‘s mental health. She is just a puppy and doing what we need to to help her avoid a life of anxiety is our priority!
