Hi I'm Charleston! I stand a strong 17hh and am a 7-year-old spotted Draft gelding looking for my new home. My owners say I’m the best boy around and constantly remind me how beautiful I am! I have a shiny tri-colored coat, a long mane and tail, and a personality to match.
At home, I go by Charlie or Charles, and I love just about any treat you’ll give me! I’m the kind of horse who wants to be your best friend. I get along great with other horses and ponies and enjoy being part of the group.
My owners have taught me so many things. I can side pass over to a mounting block, fence, rock, or just about anything you want to use to get on. I stand like a statue while you mount and will walk, trot, and canter off with the softest cues. I know my leads as well. I stop with a simple “whoa” and have wonderful transitions. I’m not fussy about bits and will happily ride in just a halter.
I love going on adventures and have been exposed to all kinds of things. I’m happy on the trails, riding through open fields, taking a dip in the river, exploring the woods, or just enjoying a relaxing ride around the farm. Traffic and wildlife don’t bother me. I’ve also been exposed to flags, tarps, bridges, pool noodles, umbrellas, fireworks, and whips.
I’m happy to venture out alone or ride with a group. Recently, the kids at the farm have been riding me English, and I’ve been having a blast! I’ve been jumping and even doing flying lead changes. I know how to work off seat and leg pressure, side pass, back up, and even spin like a Quarter Horse. Don’t let my size fool you—I’m athletic and light on my feet!
I listen to the most subtle cues, making me an easy and enjoyable horse to ride. I also know how to drive and have been to many exciting parades and events. I will stand at stop signs and patiently wait while passengers climb on and off the carriage.
I have loads of training and experience under my belt and am looking for a family or person who wants a bigger horse to have fun with. I would be happy in the arena, on the trails, or out enjoying new adventures.
