is an all-breed, non-profit 501(c)(3), canine rescue organization established in February 2012. Many of our core volunteers bring along years of experience from serving other Houston rescue groups. As of December 31, 2021 we have homed and re-homed over 8896 dogs and 500 cats! Our volunteers are compassionate, companion animal welfare advocates dedicated to contributing their time, skills, finance

s, and experience. In turn, their dedication helps save the lives of the abandoned, abused, homeless, neglected, orphaned, rejected, stray, and surrendered dogs in Houston's animal control facilities. We are committed to rescuing and re-homing these dogs regardless of their breed or circumstance. We are motivated by the dire need to educate the public about the effects of irresponsible breeding practices, while helping the community by alleviating overcrowding in area shelters. K-9 Angels Rescue Board Members and Volunteers are 100% VOLUNTEER and receive NO compensation. We are not a shelter in the sense that we are not positioned to accept dogs from the public. We personally select our dogs from the greater Houston animal control facilities where healthy, adoptable dogs are destroyed every day simply because they have no home, no family, to call their own. A dog selected into our rescue program remains in our care until adopted. Only when we are able to secure the best match between dog and new caregiver(s) is the dog released from our program. A foster home provides the dog with a loving, safe environment and allows for behavioral observations & modifications, and training. Fostering creates the opportunity to see how the dog interacts with human family members and furry family members. When a foster family is not available our dogs are kenneled until transported to our Adoption Center on Saturday morning

MEET MERRIT!

Hi there! I’m Merrit! I am thriving in my new foster home and I am the sweetest, most cuddliest little pup. I love to snuggle and think I am a lap dog. In fact, I am sitting in my foster mommy’s lap right now as she writes this. I am a little shy at first, but after a few seconds I will roll over to get belly rubs because I love them so much!

I have been working on training (I can sit or stay with treats, and walk on a leash!), socializing, and she has been desensitizing me to a lot of household noises because she thinks I can be a scaredy cat with things like the washer and dryer and vacuum. I am making so much progress in just a week, I used to run away from the vacuum and now I am so brave I either follow her around while she does housework or lay in my kennel.

Speaking of kennels, although I prefer to be next to you all day, I am kennel trained! Since I sleep through the night with no accidents, my foster dad said it is ok for me to sleep in bed with them at night and I love it so much!!

I like to be underfoot all day, following my foster mommy and the tiny human around the house. I love that there is always someone in the house to play with me, but when she leaves I am so good in my kennel! My foster sister, Zyra, has been teaching me puppy manners and how to play with toys. I love playing fetch and chasing her around the yard!

I love the chaos of my foster home and I especially love the tiny human. I would do perfect in a home with other tiny humans and larger dogs.

MEET DOUGIE!

Hi friends! I’m a fun-loving boy dog on the search for my forever family, and I’ve been busy learning all about the good life these past few months! 💙

I got a cool new haircut, made some awesome dog friends, and even went on my very first road trip 🚗🐶. Turns out—I love adventures! I’m a pretty active guy who LOVES playing fetch 🎾 and going on long walkies. If you’re looking for a buddy to keep you moving, I’m your pup!

I’m learning my manners too! I know sit, I’m crate trained, and I’m doing really well with potty training (my foster mom is very proud of me). I play wonderfully with kids and get along great with other dogs—young or old, big or small.

My foster mom says I'm a "silly handsome fluffer butt", and honestly… I think she’s right 😉
All I’m missing now is a family to call my own.

We are STILL looking for a foster home for Jarvis. He has been working hard on his confidence at training, but he really needs to be a foster home to have a chance at getting adopted. Jarvis can be very shy at first and would do best in a patient, calm home where he can come out of his shell.

Are you working on your fitness goals for 2026? Or maybe you’d just like a reason to get out more. Ziggy would love to help you out. He's a high energy guy, with a talent for finding entertainment anywhere.

Ziggy thrives on adventure, like trips to the dog park, doggie daycare, or long walks on the beach (or anywhere else really). He LOVES water, whether it's swimming at the dog park, cooling off in his kiddie pool, attacking the sprinkler or saving you from pesky raindrops.

When he's not out on an adventure, he enjoys wrestling with his furry foster brother or playing with toys and bones. Ziggy would do best in an active home with another playful dog. He would probably enjoy agility training or running with his people. While he has attended training and done well, he is still a work in progress and would do best in a home without small children as he can be mouthy when excited. Ziggy never misses a meal or treat. He's also fully potty trained and crate trained, sleeping soundly through the night.

Sunday is a sweet little pup who loves to cuddle and play. She’s super quiet and does not bark! She’s a cuddle bug and will definitely give you lots of kisses if you let her! She feels the safest when she is resting on your chest like a baby but she also sleeps well in her crate. She is fully crate trained and potty trained! She’s the perfect family dog! Sunday spends her day playing with all the kids in the household. Still working on a leash but loves to be outside with the family. She plays with a few toys but really she just likes to get the zoomies and run around! Sunday would make a great addition to any family willing to love her!

MEET BLITZIE! ❄️

Hello there, I'm Bliztie! I am a happy, social, and friendly pup with a permanent snaggle-tooth looking for my fur-ever home. I can be a little shy at first, but once I warm up, I am a very snuggly and happy pup! My favorite things are walking around the neighborhood, napping, and getting pets from my humans. I am still figuring out toys, but tiny plush ones I can carry around in my mouth are so far my favorites.

I'm a very cheerful dog whose tail wags most of the day, especially with my foster humans. Whenever I see them when they come home or after I wake up from a nap, I start sneezing with excitement! I am crate and potty trained, but I prefer to sleep on a cushion or a couch. Come and meet me soon so I can find my perfect and fur-ever home!

Meet Marv, Harry’s equally handsome brother and the sleek counterpart to his fluffier sibling. At just over 3 months old and around 30 pounds, this half Great Pyrenees pup is also going to be a big boy, but with a slick, smooth coat instead of the fluffy look. Marv is all about playtime first, photos later—he’d much rather be wrestling with his brother, romping with his foster Basset siblings, or exploring the yard than posing for the camera. One thing you will notice immediately, though, are his absolutely stunning gray eyes—truly unforgettable.

Marv is incredibly intelligent and easygoing, picking up the doggy door faster than anyone expected. He’s doing great with potty training, learning to crate train, and settles nicely when it’s time to relax.
