is an all-breed, non-profit 501(c)(3), canine rescue organization established in February 2012. Many of our core volunteers bring along years of experience from serving other Houston rescue groups. As of December 31, 2021 we have homed and re-homed over 8896 dogs and 500 cats! Our volunteers are compassionate, companion animal welfare advocates dedicated to contributing their time, skills, finance

s, and experience. In turn, their dedication helps save the lives of the abandoned, abused, homeless, neglected, orphaned, rejected, stray, and surrendered dogs in Houston's animal control facilities. We are committed to rescuing and re-homing these dogs regardless of their breed or circumstance. We are motivated by the dire need to educate the public about the effects of irresponsible breeding practices, while helping the community by alleviating overcrowding in area shelters. K-9 Angels Rescue Board Members and Volunteers are 100% VOLUNTEER and receive NO compensation. We are not a shelter in the sense that we are not positioned to accept dogs from the public. We personally select our dogs from the greater Houston animal control facilities where healthy, adoptable dogs are destroyed every day simply because they have no home, no family, to call their own. A dog selected into our rescue program remains in our care until adopted. Only when we are able to secure the best match between dog and new caregiver(s) is the dog released from our program. A foster home provides the dog with a loving, safe environment and allows for behavioral observations & modifications, and training. Fostering creates the opportunity to see how the dog interacts with human family members and furry family members. When a foster family is not available our dogs are kenneled until transported to our Adoption Center on Saturday morning

TOSHI HAS A BIO UPDATE & SOME HANDSOME PICS TO SHOW OFF!

We all have that one friend who never says no to things. It doesn’t matter if it’s a ride around town, a walk at the park or a burger on the porch at our favorite restaurant, this friend is always up for an outing. If you don’t have a friend like that, you should adopt Toshi. He is the most loyal companion. He loves to go for rides and sits quietly in the backseat. He is a champion walker - as long as he’s being walked on a gentle leader. It makes him so easy to guide. Best of all Toshi will lay down under the table while you enjoy your dinner; no begging and no fussing. Toshi loves to play with other dogs, and needs a companion that can handle a big dog’s ruff-housing. Toshi is house trained and crate trained. He’s going to be evaluated for day care this week. We’re sure he’s going to have a great time meeting new dogs to play with. We’re continuing to work on his initial excitement, when meeting people and other dogs. He’s that friend who knows no strangers. Toshi weighs 58 lbs and is a wonderful house guest at his foster home.

INTRODUCING BENJI!

Meet Benji, an incredibly loving and quiet dog who loves to explore, go on walks, play, follow you around, and get as many pets from you as he can!

Benji is not much of a barker or whiner and is a very social guy. Every person and dog he meets is his friend. This makes him the perfect walking buddy as he never makes a fuss when somebody walks by.

He also enjoys lounging around and begging for pets and scratches. If he decides the amount of attention you gave him wasn’t enough, he’ll put his paw onto your hand to get you to continue!

Benji is very well-behaved overall. Even when he’s hesitant to do something you want him to (like taking a bath), he never shows signs of aggression. He is crate-trained and sleeps through the night without any issues.

He is working on his tendency to mark inside, but for the most part he’s good with letting you know that he wants to go outside to potty.

Benji would be a great fit in any type of household, especially one with kids and other dogs. If you’re looking for a loyal, sweet companion who will give you endless amounts of love, Benji is the match for you.

CHECK OUT BEAR’S ADORABLE UPDATE!

Meet calm, curious, and cuddly Bear, your future shadow with soft paws and a calm heart 💙 This sweet boy is the total package—crate-trained, good-mannered, and as happy snuggling by your feet as he is romping with his brother and foster sister. Bear has the soul of an old gentleman in a young pup’s body. He loves to explore the yard, sniff out mysterious bugs, and then come inside for a well-earned nap near his favorite human.

Bear sleeps soundly through the night and will let you know if he needs a quick potty break (and then he’s right back to snoozing in his crate with a little treat 💤). He sits beautifully when asked and has a calm, observant nature that makes him a joy to have around. His floppy ears and gorgeous blue eyes are just icing on the very good-boy cake.

Bear would thrive in a home with people who appreciate his easygoing nature and curious spirit. Whether you’re working on your computer, playing piano, or watching TV, Bear will be your quiet, loyal companion.

A shy sweetheart with a gentle soul, Blue is a thoughtful, tender-hearted pup who’s learning that the world isn’t so scary after all 🌎✨ With upright ears and striking blue eyes, Blue might look like a little sentinel—but under that serious expression is a playful, cuddly pup just waiting to blossom.

Blue is crate-trained and sleeps well through the night. If he needs a potty break, he’ll happily return to his crate afterward and settle right back in (especially if there’s a treat involved 😉). He’s happiest when playing with his brother and foster sister or sniffing around the backyard, exploring all the smells life has to offer.

Hi, my name is Jenga! I am an independent women. I’m a little shy at first but I warm up quickly and let my personality out! I’m growing fast and I’m figuring out as much as I can. I love food, it motivates me! I have learned common words like crate, sit and lay down. I am still working on potty training, but I’m getting there. I sleep through the night and then I love chasing my brother around during the day between naps! I do well with other dogs, and I make my foster laugh a lot. I can’t wait to join a forever family!

Hi! My name is Jarvis. I am one tough cookie, but quite the cuddle monster! I love toys and wrestling with my sister. I sleep through the night and I’m working on my potty training. SWEET BRUCE HAS AN UPDATED BIO & PICS!

Meet Bruce – Your Future Snuggle Buddy!

Bruce is a gentle, affectionate pup with a heart full of love. After a rough start to life, he’s blossomed in foster care and is ready for a forever home.

He’s crate-trained, potty-trained, and loves to grab a toy and entertain himself. His favorite things? Belly rubs, cuddles, and just being near his people.

Bruce is gradually going blind, so he’ll need a few simple accommodations, but it doesn’t stop him from living a joyful, full life.

He gets along well with dogs and cats but does best with calm companions. He’ll need a little time to adjust, but once he settles in, he’s an absolute joy.

ZIGGY HAS AN UPDATED BIO AND HANDSOME NEW PICS TO SHARE!

Hi friends! My name’s Ziggy. I’m an energetic, fun loving boy. As I’m only a puppy, I’m curious about everyone and everything. I love playing fetch, tug of war, and wrestling with my foster brother! I’d love a home with another dog to play with.

I’m still learning commands but can sit and lay down like a pro. I’m doing better walking on a leash but I’m still working on controlling my excitement with interesting smells! I sleep in my crate every night and am mostly potty trained.

INTRODUCING JULIET!

Meet Juliet, a tiny little cuddle bug. She will follow you everywhere you go and be your little shadow. She prefers to be her human’s one true love and needs to be the only dog in the home.

She is potty trained and can go on the p*e pad as well. She loves just lounging around and getting cuddles. She is a bit fearful of the family kitten and tries to to stay out of her way. She does great on a leash and loves going on walks and laying on your lap. Juliet is adored in her foster home and she’s ready to find her forever home.

MEET SNACKS!

Meet Snacks! She came to us with severe dog bite wounds that are healed now, but she is isn't a fan of other dogs.

Due to her past trauma being attacked by another dog, she needs to be the ONLY dog in the home. She's not your dog if you're looking for another dog to keep your other dog company. She wants to be your one and only dog.

She's AMAZING with kids and the little human foster brother in the home is her BFF. In her furever home, she would love to have a kiddo to call her own to grow up with. She is all about her people and will make the most loyal friend to everyone in the family.

Snacks is completely crate trained and if taken out regularly, does well with house training. She will fuss for a little bit when you leave her, but settles down after a few mins. Car rides and going places is her favorite! She's your true passenger princess and just wants to be wherever you are.

Snacks is a Female Chihuahua/Spaniel Mix that we estimate to be born around 7/15/23 and weighs 14.2 lbs.
