🚨 SCREWWORM AWARENESS FOR ALL PET OWNERS 🚨

Screwworms are a serious threat to dogs, cats, livestock, wildlife, and other warm-blooded animals. The larvae can invade open wounds, feeding on living tissue and causing severe injury, infection, and even death if left untreated.

🐾 What Pet Owners Should Watch For:
• Open cuts, scrapes, or sores
• Wounds that are slow to heal
• Foul odors coming from a wound
• Excessive licking, scratching, or discomfort
• Swelling, drainage, or signs of infection
• Visible larvae (maggots) in a wound

✅ How to Protect Your Pets:
• Check your pets regularly for injuries or skin irritation
• Keep wounds clean and seek veterinary care promptly
• Use veterinarian-recommended fly prevention products
• Report any suspicious cases to your veterinarian immediately

🐾 It's Time for One More Basset Bash Before Our Summer Break! 🐾

Join us for the Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas Monthly Meet & Greet on:

This will be our final meet and greet before summer break as we give our long-eared friends (and their grateful pawrents!) a little relief from the Texas heat. ☀️🐶 We’ll be back in September!

Bring your hounds for a playdate in the fenced area or just stop by to get some much-needed Basset cuddles and love on our adorable short-legged, big-hearted pups. 💜

And don’t forget to enjoy some of Mel’s famous country cooking — $1 from every dessert purchased will be donated to Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas! 🍰🐾

Ten years young and still keeping everyone on their toes!

Lois Lane celebrated her 10th birthday on May 31st, or at least that’s the special day her family chose to celebrate after adopting her in 2017. Since then, she’s traded rescue life for the VIP life, complete with comfy beds, endless love, and one very important hobby…

Whether she’s supervising snack distribution, plotting her next sibling shenanigan, or perfecting that signature Basset stare, Lois continues to live her very best life every single day.
