Dear SDAT Friends and Followers,
Over the years, several dogs have been abandoned or left behind at our facility. What was intended to be temporary has unfortunately become permanent for many of them.
As most of you know, I have spent my career helping dogs and the people who love them. We have done everything we can to provide these dogs with safety, training, enrichment, and care. However, a kennel facility is not a home, and we have reached a point where we can no longer sustainably provide long-term housing for dogs that have nowhere else to go.
These dogs deserve a chance to show who they are outside of a kennel environment. Many would benefit tremendously from foster homes where we can learn more about how they live in a household setting and help them become adoptable.
Some of these dogs have behavioral considerations that require management, but many do exceptionally well when their needs are understood and their management plans are followed. We will be honest about each dog's needs and work to match them with appropriate foster homes.
We can provide food, preventatives, and guidance. We will also be available to support foster families throughout the process.
If you have ever considered fostering, now is the time. Even a temporary foster placement could completely change the trajectory of one of these dogs' lives.
Please message me directly if you might be able to help, or if you know someone who could. Sharing this post is also greatly appreciated.
These dogs have waited far too long for a chance at a real home. Let's help them find one.
