TRAINING TIPS TUESDAY! Today we're talking about anthropomorphizing! Anyone know what that is? We have all been guilty of it I bet, I know I have.
So, what is it? Simply stated, it is defined as "attributing human characteristics or behaviors to a (God, Object or Animal). What's the harm in doing this?
-Misinterpreting a behavior-my dog is guilty or stubborn. I hear this a lot from clients. Maybe your dog just doesn't understand what you are asking, or maybe your cue is poisoned.
-Failure in training-assigning our human-like traits to a dog can make training more challenging
-Overemphasizing our human emotions on our pups
-Causes confusion and frustration between you and your dog.
What to do? Learn how to read your dog's body language and correctly interpret what your dog is trying to tell you. If you speak his language, instead of projecting our feelings onto them and assuming we are correct, you'll build a better, stronger bond with your dog through clear communication. In classes we talk about understanding our dog's body language. It's important!
Last classes start November 23 at 1:30 and 3:30! [email protected]/706-983-2420 or visit the website!
