Because we just loosened a TON of dead coat that was packed next to the skin. Some comes out here, some in your car, some at home over the next few days.
That’s normal, and part of the process — not a failed groom.
Double coated dogs should be on a 4-6 weeks schedule :).

I’ve been grooming dogs for 40 years. I started in 1985 with Golden Retrievers, spent decades in the show world breeding and showing some of the top American Cocker Spaniels in the country, and eventually opened The Posh Paw right here in Hopkinton — because caring for dogs isn’t just what I do. It’s who I am.
So when I tell you your dog is in good hands while they’re here, I really mean it.
A full groom isn’t a quick stop. There’s a brush-out, a bath with products chosen specifically for your dog’s coat, a careful blow-dry, a precision cut, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and rest breaks in between — because your dog deserves to be comfortable, not rushed. Depending on your pup’s size, coat, and temperament, that process can take 3 to 4 hours. Sometimes a little more. And that’s okay. That’s what doing it right looks like.
If your dog is ready and life delays your pickup by an hour or two — a missed notification, a busy afternoon — please don’t panic. They’re resting comfortably in a calm, clean space, with people who genuinely love dogs nearby. They are not forgotten. They are not suffering. They are waiting for you, and we are right here with them until you arrive.
I built The Posh Paw on 40 years of show-ring standards and a simple belief: every dog deserves to be treated like a champion. That doesn’t change when the scissors go down.
