It's finally nice enough to get back outside to train. SD Mokey takes his 'tuck' cue seriously. He is so big yet so comfortable in small spaces. We will have to be careful to leave the table where it is when we get up!

We are hoping for puppies again. Missy is Kazi's daughter from her first litter. Contact Von den Komplizen GSDs for more information if you are interested. Working homes only.

Missy decided to kick off 2026 by having her first successful breeding with Flint today. Second date is planned for Saturday!

🎉 BREEDING ANNOUNCEMENT 🎉

Flint is a FEMA certified USAR K9 with NJ-TF1 with multiple deployments under his belt at 10 years old. He’s extremely stable and clear headed, has strong environmental confidence, no dog aggression, no handler aggression, has very high hunt drive, excellent work ethic, high food and toy drive, with high possession. Flint is a steady and reliable partner while on the rubble or while searching and he’s just as reliable and steady at home or in public. He has lived with both male and female GSDs without an issue, serves as predator protection for Jen’s small farm, and has helped raise litters of foster kittens that have come through. He currently shares his home with a couple of adult cats, a female GSD, and chickens. Flint is DM Negative, OFA GOOD/NORMAL, LUW0, and comes from a wonderful pedigree of solid working dogs in various venues. His littermate siblings, and siblings from a repeat breeding, have all excelled in some form of SAR. Flint is also the winner of the 2025 AKC Award for Canine Excellence (disaster SAR.) The AKC article: https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/news/gsd-flint-ace-search-rescue-disaster-response/

Missy is our co-own female from the A-Litter (Arek x Kazi) and she is certified live find NASAR Type 2 Area Search K9 and certified PSARC Area Search K9 with Northeast Search and Rescue. She is confident, stable, driven, social with both people and dogs, neutral in public, has very high hunt drive, high toy and prey drive, is higher energy and shows quite a bit of independence in her work. She lives in a multi dog household without issue and travels great. Missy is DM Negative, OFA Good/Normal, LUW0, and PennHip .32(R)/.37(L.)

I expect this breeding to produce very similarly to the B-Litter with strong working dogs with big opinions who will thrive with appropriate drive outlets and work, daily exercise and interactions with their people, and have high pack drive without sacrificing independent problem solving. They should be suitable for various venues such as IGP, SAR, detection, nosework, etc. while being balanced, clear headed, stable house dogs. This pairing should produce a bit of hardness coming down through Flint while maintaining biddability and a desire to be correct. Overall the A-Litter has some slight handler sensitivity that should balance out with Flint and what he produces. Both dogs are free from allergies and have solid GI systems.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Chilly Sniff-n-Go. It actually started out pretty nice with no wind and sunshine...Then winter set in.
I hope everyone had fun. I had fun seeing everyone and did my best to stay out of the searches because I always go into teacher mode and parking lot duty was fun! I enjoyed watching those I saw. The venue is inherently tricky and very challenging. I hope you all learned a lot about your dogs, your handling and how odor moves in leaky old 2 story barns.

I am grateful to have this dog as a partner. He is the ultimate German Shepherd Dog--everything I think they should be. He has power to spare, agility, athleticism, desire to work, has a strong protective nature with the intelligence and discernment to know actual danger. He functions as a farm dog, ridding the chicken yards of rats as well as a search dog. He is social and patient and becomes an on scene therapy dog when needed. That is what I love most about him. Despite all of his power and desire to work, he stands and leans against countless rescue workers when they miss their homes and need the comfort of a dog.

"Flint," a German Shepherd Dog, has won the 2025 Award for Canine Excellence in the Search and Rescue - Disaster Response category with Jen Michelson.

We held our first Mock ORT today at PDTC. I love doing 'mocks', giving people close to trial experience in a much lower stress environment. We didnt have many entries so ran everyone through twice..And were able to experience the all important 'working a tired dog'.
The next Mock ORT is October 28 in North Brunswick
