Here is a video of me explaining how to look for Pin feathers on a duck. These are the ducks we want to avoid, as they will not mount up nice and full. After this bird is fleshed and then washed, those pin feathers will fall out. These birds are more than likely to be taken in during the 1st and 2nd swing of duck season.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

after much thought and consideration, I am not accepting any more deer from new customers. I will continue to take deer from old and current customers. I promised myself I would not get overwhelmed this year. I’m going on two years in a row not deer hunting, prefer to not make it three.

Also, I am not accepting any waterfowl/geese until after the first of the year. This rule applies to everyone.

Another pretty wigeon going home. A prime example of why it’s so important to pick a full looking bird that doesn’t have pin feathers, they will not look this good. Late season birds, are your best birds 👌🏼.

I didn’t make this but it’s pretty spot on as far as materials cost. If anything, my materials cost is actually a little more than this because I simply will not cheat people with cheap products.

I don’t know who needs to hear this (jk, I do) but those 400 and 500 dollar shoulder mount days are over. Part time or not, we simply cannot survive unless we are charging 800 or more for shoulder mounts. I already know someone will read this and say “I kNoW a gUy tHat dOeS”, good for you and good for him 👍🏻.

I was the “cheap guy” at one time, we all were starting out. But I absolutely HATED it, I couldn’t stand being known as the cheaper guy, nobody should.

Two things you should never seek for in taxidermy:

1: the cheapest

2: who has the fastest turnaround time?
