We love feedback like this!! Honey has been nervous around strangers and her family needed to prepare for overnight visitors. Those of us with dogs like this know how stressful this situation is- wanting to keep your company safe and comfortable and wanting to keep your dog safe and comfortable. Honey's family scores an A++ for their management, preparation and family participation. They even were joking about "not looking at the dog" all weekend. It is so hard not to want to pet a dog much less not LOOK at the dog! Nicely Done and thank you to Honey's family for being her advocate and setting her up for success!
"To update you on how Honey did with my family--she did great! The first two nights they were here, Honey and our other dog were in the kennel. There was just way too much going on at my house--family coming in, getting ready for my mom's memorial, lots of activity and people coming and going. So, Saturday the dogs got home and we did the thing where all my family was around the kitchen table and they were tossing treats and not looking at her or talking to her, etc. (Canine Karma calls this, removing the "Fatal 4"!) It went great! Eventually, they got up one by one and moved to the family room, still tossing treats and not making eye contact. She did so well! It was such a relief and we were so proud of her! By day two, she was sitting with them on the couch, letting them pet her, and just going about her business as if it was normal they were there."
