Luke handling Opal to pick up a blind (bird that was not seen by the dog). A very nice job, avoiding the tendencies of suction into the decoys and other factors.

Zach Postma shot this one on a hunt before dark. All the barking and howling at night can keep you awake.

Scouting for ducks and I had seen this nuisance coyote sitting on a hay bale. The farmer had told me about this bold dog who followed him off the tractor to his truck for several days. Luke shot this one at 361 yards.

Hogan and Opal running for ditch chickens (Pheasants). We had just shot a few out of here. Hogan was pretty wound and I believe he tracked and picked up a cripple from an earlier time.

North Dakota 2026
This is beautiful place so close to my heart. I had asked myself again a few times this week why I love this dry and dusty place with endless prarie grass?

This week was spent with two great friends Luke, Adam and my son Zach chasing ducks and running and gunning for pheasants. This unforgiving land for farming is just tough. There were fewer ducks than I had ever seen here, but God blesses me richly every time I go. Not because of limits, but by friendships/relationships and time spent in his creation.

Traveled to the middle zone yesterday on an invite to take in a little duck hunt. I may have forgot from last year how much I missed it. Pretty blessed to be part of what took place. Old girl Jade for the first hunt didn't forget. She wore her tail out.
