Well this month we will have served the Lincoln community for 9 years and today we had to say goodbye. We saw our last patient today at our Lincoln location and I am so thankful for the community support, love, and trust they have given us over the years. It was not an easy decision and there has been a lot of tears tonight. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into renovating our building and making our hospital a success. But my body just won’t let me do all the things I want to do anymore. I hope to see some of you in our Hoisington location! Thanks for choosing us to be Your Other Family Doctor!

Hard to believe I have been a veterinarian for 14 years today! I’ve been wrong about a lot of things in my life but I truly believe I was born to do what I do. I hope everyone is as lucky as I am to find their purpose, their passion, their place in this world. I am so blessed.

Shout out to all the Mommas that have to work on Mother’s Day!

We are putting a feeding tube in a kitty with hepatic lipidisis. Hepatic lipidosis is also known as fatty liver syndrome. This disease is unique to cats and is one of the most common liver diseases seen in cats. They get it after a period of anorexia (little or no eating) for three to four consecutive days. When fat is broken down rapidly to supply energy and nutrients to the anorectic cat, it can overwhelm the ability of the liver to process it. This fat becomes stored in and around the liver cells, further compromising liver function. The cat usually becomes jaundiced, as evidenced by a yellow color in the whites of the eyes or in the skin. At this point, the disease will be fatal if not treated rapidly and aggressively.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Dear friends,

A year ago today changed my life forever. I rolled my vehicle 12 times after my rear tire exploded when I swerved to miss a deer. I broke 15 bones and it was uncertain what my future would look like. I am amazed to say that it looks like after a team of doctors, support from relief veterinarians, and the best employees a girls could ask for, I am nearing feeling 100% normal. I wanted to thank you all for sticking with us through this trying year. I know it hasn’t been easy with sketchy availability, working with new doctors, and me not being able to provide emergency care (although I should be well enough by the end of the month to do so!). I feel very blessed to be able to be here to provide care to your four legged kiddos and I feel very blessed that you continue to choose me as their doctor. I hope you allow me to provide their care for years to come and know how much I appreciate all of you!
