☀️SUMMER WEATHER PET SAFETY TIPS☀️

🌳OUTDOOR PETS:🌳
•Ventilated shelter in a shaded area to prevent heat trapping
•Access to fresh water/food
•Access to a well shaded area off of concrete/dirt

*THESE ARE REQUIRED BY ORDINANCE REGARDLESS OF WEATHER FOR OUTDOOR PETS*

🏠INDOOR PETS:🏠
•Limit strenuous activities to early morning (before 10am), and later in the evening (after 7pm)
•Limit potty breaks to 10 minutes during high temps, shorter if high risk, limit activity levels
•Access to a well shaded area off of concrete/dirt
•Access to fresh water
•Ventilated shelter in a shaded area to prevent heat trapping

🐾REMINDER IF THE PAVEMENT IS TOO HOT TO HOLD YOUR HAND/FOOT TO IT'S TOO HOT FOR YOUR PET'S PAWS🐾

🚨SIGNS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION/STROKE🚨
•Excessive heavy panting
•Difficulty breathing
•Bright red or pale gums
•Excessive drooling, "foaming" at the mouth
•Weakness, confused/unresponsive
•Vomiting and/or diarrhea

If you notice these symptoms get your pet to a cool place immediately and contact a vet! This is a medical emergency and can be fatal! Offer cool not iced water in small amounts, do not force drinking!

Brachycephalic (flat faced breeds), overweight, and dogs with heart problems are at higher risk for heat exhaustion! Higher temps increase breathing difficulties especially when accompanied by strenuous activities such as running.

Do we have any clients looking for a new furry feline friend? 🐾🐈
We have a close friend who had some kittens show up on her back deck a week ago. All have found homes except this little one. The kitten is around 9 weeks old and eating solid food. Although still a little unsure of human hands, this kitten could be loving in no time, as all the siblings have only taken 48-72 hours to warm up to their new owners. We believe the kitten to be a female, but there is no vet confirmation yet. The kitten has been living outdoors, assuming since birth, so could be an outdoor farm/barn kitty or easily transitioned into an indoor cat at this stage in life. ❤️
Kitten is NOT at the Menagerie but could get you in contact with person if seriously interested. We are trying to place before calling rescues as we know they are pretty full. We do know Best friends of NWA does cat spay/ neuters for only $20 along with a free microchip, Rabies and 5-way.
