When you support any rescue organization, the apparent highlight seems to shine on helping dogs and cats need. But in reality, in many cases, it goes far beyond such. Please allow “Sawyer” (a dog we adopted some 6 years ago) to tell his story:
“Sawyer” here… I’m still pinching myself to make sure I’m not dreaming. First, from the bottom of my heart, my story is only possible because of supporters like you. My story is a familiar one. I was abandoned and later picked up as a frightened stray. That’s when Paw Pals volunteers came into my life and prepared me for adoption. I received veterinary care—heartworm testing, flea and tick prevention, deworming, and neuter surgery—but most important was the love that slowly allowed my trust to grow. My portrait was taken and posted on social media along with my description. A family in north Texas saw my post and felt drawn to the soul in my eyes. Hardships are relative. This family of three young children had lost their beloved husband and father just a year earlier. When I entered their home, I could sense a void. I didn’t need to study the family pictures displayed in every room—the ones where this loving man’s image completed the frame. I simply felt their great loss, still healing with time and experience. The beauty of our first meeting was that the entire extended family came to meet me (just two months earlier I had been all alone on the streets). The sister’s family even brought their dog, “Jack”—70 pounds of pure energy and a rescue like me. We met our match and bonded immediately. I became a perfect fit for this family. It felt as if God had placed me here to help them in my own companion-animal way. I know you understand that your support doesn’t stop at helping dogs and cats in need. You also help humans by making their lives more complete. Your support is truly a blessing.
