This handsome pup is Marley, about 5 years old and currently in the care of Catawba County Animal Services. He visited us today for Free Groom Friday, a small way we support our local shelter by helping dogs feel their best while they wait for their next chapter. 💙
Marley was an absolute sweetheart during his groom and cleaned up beautifully! ✂️🛁

We're grateful for the opportunity to care for dogs like Marley and to support the dedicated team at Catawba County Animal Services. It’s always a joy to help these pups feel a little more comfortable while they wait for their forever home.

🐾 Transformation Tuesday: A Fresh Start for a Very Special Pup 🐾

This sweet boy came to us for boarding and a groom during his stay. Our grooming team got to work, and the transformation was nothing short of amazing ✨. Underneath 2 inches of matted fur was the most handsome, gentle, and grateful pup just waiting to shine. Check out these incredible before and after photos — his eyes say it all! 😍

This story comes with a bittersweet note — his loving owner recently passed away 💔. The kind-hearted people caring for him and providing a safe and supportive place for him are now looking for a forever family who can give him the permanent home he deserves. 🏡 So now, not only has he gotten a fresh start on the outside, he’s also looking for a brand new beginning on the inside.

🌟 Last week’s Free Groom Friday - Simba!

💙 THE BEST NEWS FIRST: Simba has already found his forever home!! Thanks to the care and support from Catawba County Animal Services Simba’s fresh start led him straight into the arms of a loving family.
We’re so happy for this sweet boy and the second chance he deserves! 🐾🏡
For those of you new to our page, every Friday we partner with our friends at Catawba County Animal Services to help a pup most in need of a fresh start 💛

Last week, we had the honor of grooming Simba, a beautiful Husky mix. Unfortunately, Simba came to us with severe matting—so bad that it was causing him discomfort and skin issues. To relieve his pain, we had no choice but to shave down his coat.
🧼 While Simba is feeling much better now, we want to take a moment to share why shaving double-coated breeds (like huskies, goldens, shepherds, etc.) is usually not recommended:
🚫 Why we avoid shaving double-coated dogs:
* Their coats are designed to regulate temperature, keeping them warm in winter and cool in summer.
* Shaving can damage the coat’s natural growth cycle, sometimes leading to patchy or uneven regrowth.
* Their undercoat provides protection from sunburn and bug bites.
✅ Why it was necessary this time:
* Severe matting pulls on the skin, causing pain, bruising, and potential infections.
* Mats trap moisture and dirt close to the skin, which can lead to sores and hot spots.
* In extreme cases like Simba’s, shaving is the most humane option to get back to a healthy, manageable coat.

🎉 Graduate Spotlight: Meet Lucy! 🎉

This sweet and energetic 7-month-old Border Doodle just finished our Puppy Obedience Training through our Board & Train program — and she did amazing! 🐶💛
Lucy was such a joy to work with, and we’re so proud of how well she did. We checked in with her owner after her first week home, and they’re so happy with their newly well-mannered pup. 😊
