Scanlan's Red Barn Learning Farm educates and inspires people to appreciate the values evident on a traditional farm through interactive, hands-on experiences. Come visit us for a real farm experience! We are located just SW of Rochester, MN. Petting Zoo (chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, sheep, pigs, fainting goats, pygmy goats, donkeys, ponies, llama, & cow)

We are working on our 2026 calendar, and we would like to incorporate Friday Night Family Fun events into our 2026 season! Our favorite wood-fire pizza vendor sold his business in 2024, and we are looking to try some new food vendors. Please let us know if you are interested or if you have suggestions!

We are saddened to share that one of our favorites has passed away. We rescued this girl from the euthanasia list at Rochester Animal Control in 2012. She has lived her best life as a friendly and welcoming face at Red Barn 😺. You could find her on a lap, rummaging in the garbage can, stealing sandwiches or greeting guests at the front desk. "Ruby", we will always remember your loud purr and sweet personality. 🩷

Last weekend, our resident farmer, Wesley, was awarded the American FFA (Future Farmers of America) degree.

The American Degree is awarded to less than 2% of FFA members nationwide, recognizing an exceptional level of dedication to their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). Through their SAEs, members develop valuable skills in finance, organization, work ethic, and record keeping.

To earn this prestigious honor, members must complete a detailed application and participate in an interview process.

Wesley did his SAE about his experience living and working at Red Barn Learning Farm. He started this project in 9th grade and worked on it for 4 years. We are so proud of him!
