Thursday, April 24th, 2025 - Age 74 days (10 weeks 5 days):
I have to say, it is a little weird only having 3 puppies! A couple time we’ve looked frantically for the 4th.

I’d love to say the puppies and Zhara miss Teegan, but honestly I’m not sure they’ve noticed! I suppose that’s good! And from the sound of it, Teegan hasn’t noticed they’re gone from her either. I guess this means I did good!

The photo was from yesterday. It was their last photo together as babies. They’ll all meet again. We have all the plans for shows together!

Today the 3 amigos traveled for clients. They met lots of new humans and saw some repeat humans! I have to walk them on leash when I’m by myself because they’re pretty fast these days and I’m not so fast right now. They’re not so great on leash as a group but they’ll get there!

Vortex leaves tomorrow! Then it’s just Ignita and Astral. Astral will go on an extended stay for training with a friend. She is still looking for her forever home, which will be on a co-own until she finishes her Championship in conformation. If you’re interested, please reach out.

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025 - Age 73 days (10 weeks 4 days):
A heartfelt congratulations to John & Linda on their addition of Teegan!!!

Teegan was Zhara’s first born, and she is the first to leave the nest!!

Teegan joins standard schnauzers Dreamer, Epic, & Envy for wonderful adventures in conformation, obedience, agility, running at the cabin, and so much more!!

Teegan settled right in like she’s always belonged!! John & Linda are so in love with this special soul! She is beautiful inside and out, just as her namesake means! I know they will have so many wonderful adventures together!!!

We will always love you, Teegan!! Have so much fun with your forever family!!

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025 - Age 72 days (10 weeks 3 days):
Today was a big day for the puppies! They traveled to the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center to have their hearts ausculted (listened to) by the board-certified cardiologist Dr. Stauthammer! I chose to do this to be thorough. I can listen to them, yes, but I wanted an outside opinion. And if I’m getting an outside opinion it’s going to be an expert.

Well, great news, no murmurs and all 4 are perfect!

They all walked on leash, accompanied by Rainey, Aurora, Sterling, and Jade! Thankfully, this week I have a student extern and she was gracious enough to help me!

The puppies were great little patients in the exam room and for their exams, but after 4 hours they did have some potties and shredding of things. They occupied themselves by doing a 3-way chew on a bully stick and playing tug, as well as sleeping. They met lots of new friends, too!

Then they came home, ate, played, ran around and passed out!

This will be their last night together. They are definitely prepared for their next adventures!

Monday, April 21st, 2025 - Age 71 days (10 weeks 2 days):
Taking photos has gotten much harder as the days go on. The puppies move quickly. They play. They run. They pull each other’s collars off. They pull each other’s tails, ears, legs, you name it! They hardly sit still, unless they’re sleeping. Unfortunately, I’m not home when they’re sleeping.

They’re little dogs now. With personalities and preferences. I’m so sad to see them go this week, but also ready for them to spread their wings and join their new families on grand adventures! I couldn’t imagine doing this and never hearing from them again. I’m so grateful they’ll be close by and I’ll see them relatively frequently as their veterinarian! What wonderful little souls they are!

Onward, littles, adventure awaits!

Sunday, April 20th, 2025 - Age 71 days (10 weeks 1 day):
Happy Easter!

The puppies are learning the ropes and what a life of luxury is by discovering couches for napping. We now have 2 taped ears on Astral and 1 on Teegan. The photo of them all lined up after being released from their kennel post-breakfast waiting to be let out once the big dogs finish eating. And a video showing what life with 10 dogs - 3 mini schnauzers and 7 standard schnauzers currently looks like! It’s sleepy time!

Saturday, April 19th, 2025 - Age 70 days (10 weeks):
How are my sweet babies 10 weeks old?!?

Man, the last 10 weeks flew by! This is their last weekend with us and I’m rather sad!

On one hand, they’re sweet angels who just love to run and play, enjoying their little lives. They’re adorable and charismatic. Sweet and innocent.

On the other hand, they love to give tooth hugs of your inner thigh and digging holes to Zhara’s homeland from the yard. They terrorize the other dogs through the safety of their pen. They run at the speed of light through the yard, T-boning each other.

In all honesty, they’ve been wonderful little babies! I am very happy there are only 4, given my current circumstances. They’ve been really good! Sure, they can be a little psycho, but they aren’t bad babies. They’re just babies.

The litter box trained extremely easy, but they prefer pottying outside.

They sleep overnight in their individual crates.

They travel well in their individual crates.

They eat well in their individual crates.

They’re just good babies! I couldn’t ask for a better first litter!! But they’re ready to go on to their next adventures! We will love them forever!

And Zhara….I couldn’t ask for a better momma dog! I love her to pieces! She made this all so….easy.

Oh….and they’re all over 10 lbs now! This is their last group weekly weigh in 😭

Friday, April 18th, 2025 - Age 69 days (9 weeks 6 days):
The puppies had a good adventure day traveling to clients and playing in a yet another new yard. They played stick tug and met some lovely golden retrievers from a distance. Then they went potty in a busy parking lot outside my chiropractor/acupuncturists office. Today they met a total of 3 new humans and saw a human they hadn’t seen since birth.

Then when they got home Vortex’s family came to visit. They tuckered out the pups in the yard! And they brought a blanket from home for Vortex. When I put it in Vortex’s crate Vortex went to lay on it 🥰 He will join them for real in T - 7 days! Meanwhile, Teegan (Solaris) leaves Wednesday!

Oh….and Vortex and Ignita can get on the couch, and Ignita can climb the klimbs to the back of the couch!

Wednesday, April 16th, 2025 - Age 67 days (9 weeks 4 days):
The puppies slept in their crates from 9:30 pm to 4:30 am when they wanted to go outside to potty. Such good puppies!

Today they traveled with me, and they were all in separate kennels. They were so good at times I forgot they were with me!!!

They were let out 3 times between 9 am and 5 pm. They didn’t have accidents in their crates and they were quiet all day!

Today they met 2 new adults and 3 new children. They played in 3 different yards! They had a blast playing with the kids!

They did fabulous all day! I’m so proud of them!

Tonight they ate all their dinner and played a ton inside and outside. And then they found a new toy…..cardboard! Apparently the best toy is free 🤣

Tuesday, April 15th, 2025 - Age 66 days (9 weeks 3 days):
SUCCESS - all puppies slept in their crates ALL NIGHT LONG last night with NO accidents! They all immediately ran outside to potty first thing in the morning. Bedtime was 9:30 pm to 5 am. I’m so proud of them!!

This morning they also all ate all their breakfast in their crates!!! Such smart puppies!!

They played outside a lot and then we left. All dogs get to stay at grooming today. Puppies just for socialization.

Monday, April 14th, 2025 - Age 65 days (9 weeks 2 days):
Today was a busy day! Matt getting ready to go out of town for the week and I got a 4th year vet student as an extern. Last night the puppies weren’t as welcoming of being crated at night. After about 45 minutes we gave up and put them in their pen.

This morning I decided I would close up shop of the puppy paradise in the dog room, and bring those crates upstairs, putting them in their pen. This way at bedtime they can use these and not the adults crates and they can eat in these vs taking them to the basement. They aren’t liking being in the basement very much anyway. They want to be with humans and the adult dogs or outside. This will also be nice because we can give them a nighttime chewie in the crates and Zhara can’t get it.

Sorry for the lack of photos and videos! Like I said, it was busy. Photo of them sleeping and video I pulled off the camera of Vortex pouncing on someone.

Sunday, April 13th, 2025 - Age 64 days (9 weeks 1 day):
The puppies had a good day at home today! They had two different visitors.

This morning they thought my protein shaker was super fun to haul around. Then they played outside.

Later we tried another food puzzle. That one was way too easy for them! So I tried a different one, and that was harder. I can’t remember if I bought that one or if it’s borrowed. That one they need to push down on the center, treat falls into the compartment. Then they need to flip the lid up. I will say, they caught onto the lid flip pretty fast. However, Vortex picked it up and dropped it to get the food out 🤣🤣

Later they did figure out to hit it on top. Not sure if it was an accident. But as I’m watching them do this I wonder to myself how much trouble are these guys going to cause growing up because boy can they problem solve!!

Then they played some more, and played chase with bully sticks. And played some more! And now they’re passed out!

Saturday, April 12th, 2025 - Age 63 days (9 weeks):
The puppies had a boring day. They got LOTS of outdoor time. They actually slept the majority of the day out of their pen under and on the klimbs. I was really surprised they were such good babies!!

I cleaned out their pen today, and took out the jungle gym because they kept destroying it. Also took away one of the potty containers. They’re big puppies now 😭😭😭 and prefer to go outside to go potty!

We gave them their food puzzle upstairs and they finished the job! By the end they had removed ALL of the drawers! Incredible!! Zhara started off watching and later joined in!

Saturday, April 12th, 2025 - Age 63 days (9 weeks):
The puppies are doing well! They get bored really quickly with the dog room set up and want to come upstairs. They LOVE being outside, running, chasing leaves, diging, you name it! Once they come back in they love to pass out in the sun!

We did something big last night. For the first time we kenneled each one separately in the bedroom for bed time. It actually went really well! This was the first time they didn't have free reign of an area overnight. On camera they have been VERY busy at night. It took about 20 minutes, but Vortex settled down and went to sleep. The girls had some variations of being upset, with Ignita and Astral being the best behaved. But soon enough all four cuddled up to their lambie and fell asleep. I had sprayed Adaptil in the kennel a few minutes after we put each one in. I had forgotten to do it before hand. That really seemed to help. I woke up at 3:30 am to use the bathroom, and heard a little rustling so we decided to let them out then. All four went outside to potty and cam back into their crates with no fuss. What good puppies we have!!!

This morning I weighed them before breakfast and they all gained a lot, with Ignita being the heaviest! Ignita and Vortex are the first two to push into the double digits! And all four weigh more or the same as Aurora! Aurora is now back to being the tiniest in the house!

After they ate breakfast and had their mornng duck neck (which each puppy is now eating the enitre thing!!!!) they played outside for about an hour before coming in to nap. You will notice going forward Astral has tape on her right ear. It was trying to be a rose ear, so this is to try fixing it. And going forward Solaris will be known as Tegan, as that is the name her family has chosen. I will start right away training her with that name. Vortex will stay Vortex.

Friday, April 11th, 2025 - Age 62 days (8 weeks, 6 days):
The puppies are getting WILD!!! This is definitely the stage where we realize multiple puppies is hard work! They’re getting sick of being in the pen. They want to be FREE!!!

I had a full afternoon of clients at the house (dog room) and the puppies stayed mostly quiet upstairs. Afterwards they played their hearts out and passed out.

Emry played with the puppies on the patio furniture. And they also tried a new food puzzle. This one was a little more complicated, but they figured it out!! I may regret teaching them all these problem solving techniques later on in life!

Friday, April 11th, 2025 - Age 62 days (8 weeks, 6 days):
The puppies had a fast at home morning, as I had to get to Subaru for car service. I had enough time to give them their duck necks on the grooming table.

I brought Vortex and Astral along to Subaru! They were the most perfect puppies!!! They were held by strangers and sat like perfect angels when a nice lady came to talk to me about them. They don’t rush her and sat patiently waiting. They observed all the commotion and either watched, chewed on their bully sticks, slept, or played with a plastic baggy! I’ve also lost count of the number of new places these puppies have gone potty! They’re pretty great!

Vortex wasn’t the biggest fan of separate kennels on the drive to the shop, but he calmed down after about 15 minutes and on the way home didn’t make a peep! Good boy!!

They’re all such good puppies! Don’t get me wrong, they enjoy biting your hands and feet and do puppy things, but wow are they well adjusted to handling new scenarios! I truly hope I’ve set them up with great success for their futures!!
