Lindsey Yoakum

I have been a veterinary technician at Russell Veterinary Services for 5 years now since I graduated in 2021 from LMU’s Vet Tech program. As a veterinary technician, I play an important role in patient care- from assisting with appointments and treatments to helping the rest of my team provide the best possible care for every patient that walks through the door. I consider myself to be an advocate for my patient and strive to provide comfort to both our clients and their pets.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, Leighton, my husband, Tyler and our two Australian Shepherds, Dolly and Jolene. 💗

Fun fact: if I see an Aussie puppy come into the clinic (or any puppy for that matter) you best believe I will grab it 😂

Today is a special day in that we honor those pets we have lost over the rainbow bridge 🌈

The famous poem says it is a peaceful meadow just this side of heaven where they are restored to youth and health, free from pain, and where they run and play with other animals while waiting to reunite with their owners.

Things to help honor them include posting photos, telling their stories, and just ensuring they will never be forgotten because they sure do leave paw prints on our heart 🐾

Is your pet experiencing allergy symptoms ???

The image below shows a few different options we have here at the clinic 💉💊

- NUMELVI: daily oral tablet
- APOQUEL: daily oral tablet usually given with a loading dose the first two weeks then as needed
- CYTOPOINT: one injection typically lasts 4-8 weeks

There are over the counter options we can offer starting first but these are contenders we see that give the best results. Each pet will have a different and unique case and may do better on one vs the other. Some cases may also need additional medicine to treat any secondary infections.

Give us a call if you think your furbaby may be dealing with allergies and let us get them some itchy relief 📲

This little guy was dropped off nearby our clinic a few days ago and is now hospitalized here with Parvo. Since he was abandoned and we don’t know by who or where he came from we have taken over his care for treatment.

If anyone feels led to donate towards his care please give the clinic a call and ask about “BUSTER” 🫶

Also, he will be available for adoption very soon once so If interested please let us know !!

“ I have been a Veterinary Assistant at Russell Veterinary Services since July 2026. I am currently attending Veterinary Technician school to earn my veterinary technician license and continue growing my knowledge and skills. I love being able to learn something new every day and am excited to continue developing my skills so I can better serve our staff, clients, and, most importantly, our patients. A few behind the scenes POV of what we do at the clinic 🫶

We are answering phones, filling prescriptions, running labwork, performing surgery, and making a treatment plan for your furbabies. We strive to do the best we can and ensure each and every patient is cared for to the best of our ability. The appreciation for our clients/patients is never ending.

BEFORE/AFTER on a dental cleaning 🦷🪥

This is one of the most satisfying parts of our job seeing the result of a good scaling and polishing. Dental health is extremely important in pets & we do our best to give them fresher breath and shinier teeth once they leave.

While cleaning we can also check for any broken, loose, or missing teeth that may not easily be seen otherwise 🔎

🌟EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT 🌟

“I’ve always been the kind of person who will choose the animal in the room over the people. 😂 Animals have a way of making everything better, and I’ve always had a soft spot for the ones who need a little extra love, patience, and understanding.

I’m a proud dog mom to Ellie, Possum, and Stella, and a cat mom to Squid and Kitty. My animals are definitely spoiled, and honestly… I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🐶🐱❤️I love getting to know every patient that comes through the door, from the sweet ones who want all the attention to the ones who need a little convincing that we’re actually their friends. Being able to help animals feel safe and cared for is one of my favorite parts of what I do.

Fun fact: If I see an animal while I’m out, I will notice it, point it out, and probably try to say hello! My family has accepted that this is just who I am”
