Everyone, meet Max! Max has joined our Puppy Board & Train program, and is doing fantastic! It's only been a week and he's just such a nice puppy. He's extremely confident, sweet, loves to train, loves to get the answer right, we really love what we see in him and are excited to watch him grow! Stay tuned for more fuzz ball cuteness!

Friendly reminder! It's Foxtail season!!!! Foxtails are nasty, deadly and EVERYWHERE! Remember to go do good, thorough body checks on your dog's after you've been playing out in the nature! Check paw pads, all the way up in toes, ears, eyes, arm pits, every little crevasse these nasty buggers can hide! Stay safe out there y'all!

Our friends at Don's are having an open house! We refer all of our over flow to them, they are definitely our trusted neighbors when we cant help everyone. Wanted to congratulate two of our clients for passing their AKC CGC tests yesterday! Both have put in well over a year into their dogs, both had different challenges and both teams have come so far! Congratulations guys, we love watching you grow!

Volunteering with Weber County Animal Services has never been easier! We are now introducing a digital volunteer form for new volunteers. Our volunteers help with a variety of tasks in caring for our animals, such as cleaning, walking, laundry, adoption events, dishes, and outside maintenance. Volunteer hours vary and are typically Monday–Friday between 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

***update*** Dirt Roads Rescue is pulling this dog, and helping out while we search for the right forever home for him. He will be getting worked with by his foster until that time comes! We want this boy in the right home, not the first home, so he never ends up on the chopping block again!!!

Hey Shepherd lovers! Hopefully this post works some magic.... Located in Ogden, Utah.

This dog was dropped off at a vet clinic yesterday to be put down. He is 1 1/2 year old shepherd, fixed. He belonged to an elderly couple, they claimed he was aggressive. The clinic decided to make a few phone calls before doing anything irreversible, and see if we can get this guy a chance at a more capable home. Our good friend reached out to us, Harrisville Working Dogs, to see if we could evaluate the dog and get a better idea as to what this dog's issues actually are. We heard he left some marks on his elderly mother and has knocked her down, we aren't exactly sure what the marks are, he could be being a mouthy shepherd, or maybe he is pushing boundaries. Upon arrival we really noticed only some fear, he was very nervous to have us get him out of his kennel run, but we were able to do so only after a few min. Once he was out, he was still pretty nervous, but nothing crazy. We took him on a walk outside the clinic, maybe 5-10 min, when we came back with him and the dog was taking treats, and leaning more into us. We went and all sat in the lobby with the dog, and he was definitely choosing to come to us and take treats from everyone.

We believe this dog could very much be workable. We believe this dog has probably not seen a ton of life, and he was probably not doing much with his older owners. The dog hasn't had any training and not much exposure.

The woman that called us to go evaluate him is paying to board him for the weekend at a reputable boarding facility, and Monday the dog will come to Harrisville Working Dogs for another week to get some exposure in, and we will have a better reading on the dog in that time. Unfortunately, if we can't find anywhere for this dog to go, he will be euthanized. We are all banding together to try and give this dog a chance. If there is ANYONE who has been looking into a shepherd, maybe see if this guy is the right one! This dog will come with free group Sunday classes to help set him and his new owner up for success! Trying to get a decent photo of dogs can be.... Well.... Difficult 😂😂😂
Canello (the doodle) and Canella (the husky) are both Board & Train clients. Canella was from a few years ago, and she still consistently boards weekly with us, while Canello just started his training journey! Both were for behavioral issues, both are still spicy but much more manageable! Both got to see JD on the same day, and were very excited about it!

Briggs is a pretty lucky dog. A very kind human paid for Briggs to go through our behavior modification board and train program. He's doing really well with his foster now that he's finished, and he's looking for his forever home!

Briggs will come with a 4 in home sessions and 4 Sunday group classes to help his new family learn everything he's been working on, and to ensure a successful relationship with this amazing pup!
