Started off the day with bail out scenario!

Our handler teams are working through one of the most important parts of trailing — recognizing and reading the end of the trail.

Today’s training focused on scenarios where the subject may have been picked up by a vehicle or otherwise left the area. Learning to identify those changes in behavior and environmental clues helps teams make better operational decisions in real-world deployments.

Every trail tells a story — it’s up to the team to read it.

A suspended license turned into much more during a traffic stop conducted by Sergeant Souther. With assistance from Deputy Greene and Canine Elio, deputies recovered a stolen handgun and illegal narcotics hidden inside the vehicle.

The driver now faces multiple felony charges and was issued no bond following his arrest.
