- Fleas and ticks pose several dangers to humans, including disease transmission, allergic reactions, skin irritation and they can trigger the condition alpha-gal syndrome (AGS). These pests are harmful to your beloved furry pets, and to you!

Reminder!! It is a requirement at Beachy Dogs that pets arriving for or services be on flea and tick prevention.

🐾 The Benefits of your 🐾

There are many benefits to crate training your ! As a puppy, using a crate aids potty training and keeps your puppy safe from hazardous behavior, such as chewing, and supports supervision. Warning - Your puppy will tug your heart strings by crying and yelping when in the crate. Make this a positive experience! Provide a treat filled toy, ensure activity and enrichment needs are met throughout the day with plenty of out time, take out to the potty frequently, and never use the crate as punishment.

As your puppy grows into adulthood, the crate will teach your dog how to rest and relax by themselves, establishes boundaries, provides safety, and prevents destructive behaviors. These factors drive down stress and anxiety in your dog, as well as you!

Also, on occasions when dog may be in a boarding situation, placed in kennels at the veterinary clinic, and grooming salons, your dog accustomed to the crate. This familiarity will produce comfort for your dog and less stress.

On this topic, I will often hear the comment "Well I don't board my dog!" Dogs are a lifetime commitment, and will be with you on average 10 to 18 years. To think you will never go on vacation, be hospitalized, conduct business travel, etc is not realistic and lmits lifestyle. Instead, prepare your dog for these situations and research the facilities you utilize.

Yesterday was for our & Classes!! We give 4-Paws & A Round of Applause 🐾🐾👏 to these human-canine teams!! They worked dilligently for 8 weeks to achieve obedience and strengthen bonds through techniques! While we couldn't get everyone photographed, your dedication to your dog's is admirable and your are so fortunate to have such AMAZING HUMANS!!

It's a 🐾 to discuss your needs! Here is the fact on shaving down a dog that should not be shaved down (double-coated breeds)! It DOES NOT cool them and will often make their skin irritated since God did not mean for these dogs to be shaved. IN FACT! They were created with a NATURAL ability to regulate temperature with their long coats!

I routinely get calls to shave down double-coated breeds. The client was unaware that it ruins the coat and presents increased risk for skin conditions, overheating, and heat stroke!

For your many breeds it is a matter of preference and it will likely not cause issue for your dog. However, any dog that has skin exposed, please apply dog-safe sunscreen!
