HAPPY HALLOWEEN!🎃

This is my very first creative groom🖤🧡

💟 I have been sitting on this video for a little over a year because I’m a nervous groomer. I’m very passionate about any service I provide in my salon & also any groom that starts & ends on my grooming table.

💟 I work really hard & I want that to be shown in everything I do. I have taught myself a lot just from videos & reading. I treat creative grooms like a test. I really study from the time I know what the pet parent is looking for up until it’s time to put that creative idea onto the pet.

I’m a lot of things but I am NOT a quitter!

Although my last interaction with a cat wasn’t so good, I’m always willing to try things more than once.

I have found different methods to holding & handling. I didn’t start out grooming cats & I honestly didn’t think I would ever groom cats. It wasn’t until a cat ended up on my schedule at the vet. I didn’t want to say “I can’t” because I never tried. Can’t say I’m not thankful for that opportunity because it taught me a lot.

It taught me to be less scared, more cautious, more patient, more understanding. It also taught me that I can literally do anything if I put my mind to it & remove all negativity.

Yes, I will continue to groom cats
Yes, I will send your cat home if it becomes too much
NO, I will not fight to the death to groom your cat.

I will, however, put my best foot forward to help pet parents maintain their cat’s health as long as it remains safe for my feline friends & myself.

Thank you to Cleo’s mom for being understanding with rescheduling & still trusting me with Cleo’s care after I thought I lost my hand😭😂.

This is Noah💛& Noah is one of my bestest fur babies. He’s pretty chill for the whole process & his mom says “you always make him look unreal”

I love that! I’ve practiced so hard on my round faces & round ears. I will continue to practice & always strive to be better than I was….

Patience. Calmness. Determination

You literally have to have all 3 & then some to be a successful, reliable groomer.

Don’t let them see you sweat because more than likely you’ll be sending out a half completed groom or a not so good groom. I hold my self to a standard, so neither are acceptable unless safety is at stake.

Meet Brownie💛He had one groom scheduled prior to this one. However, the puppy in him was like “ABSOLUTELY NOT”. So we did a introduction which is basically FFF (face, feet, & f***y).

This was his second appointment & I was very determined to get the groom done not only for his pet parents, but for him as well. His hair was so long which can be hard to manage for pet parents & he really needed a shorter haircut for easier maintenance.

WE GOT IT DONE! Although it took over 4 hours, a lot of talking, a lot of reassurance, a lot of breaks. WE DID IT JOE!😂

Thank you to his parents for being understanding, patient with the process, & also for booking his future appointment & making sure it’s not too spaced out. Routine is important! Brownie will be on a 4 week schedule which will build his confidence in grooming & allow us to be better acquainted🫶🏾🥰

Literally in my top 5 of hardest things about grooming😭😩

The belly band is my friend because as soon as you get to a dog’s butt, all they wanna do is sit.

Sit on your clippers….

Now I’m paying a vet bill, NO THANK YOU!
Pets try to hurt themselves more than you know😂. So I keep them safe & then they see me every 4-8 weeks. I know they probably be like “damn, nothings working for me to get away from this lady”🤣

Respectfully, but I said what I said!

We are human! We get hurt, we get sick!
We get tired, we get burned out! However, we still show up most days even when we simply don’t feel like it. We put smiles on our faces, we remove anger or hurt from our hearts & we come to work to safely & effectively service your pets.

Myself as a groomer, I service all pets. From really calm, to really aggressive. From young to old. From predictable, to not so predictable at all. So give me grace! Give us all grace.

When you decide to go to a salon where there is only one groomer, there is a price you might have to pay as well. Your groomer may need to cancel or reschedule your appointment at the last minute because it’s life & things happen. This is why I give grace to my pet parents as well sometimes because it’s needed.

I’m here to say as a groomer, we know what we signed up for. We know what the job entails. You’re bound to get bit, you’re bound to get scratched. Dealing with people who have zero compassion, zero concern tho is not what I signed up for.

A lot of groomers don’t stop grooming because of your pets behavior. They stop grooming because of the behavior of the pet parents. Just saying!

Don’t be rude! Say “Hi” to Stormy💛

I’ve been grooming Stormy for almost 4 years now & she’s always been one of my favorites. Like she’s not your typical goofy golden who will use their body weight against you😭😂. I’m little so my body weight against any big dog is like zero competition.

Sooo here are some of things I love about Stormy….

• She’s always happy to come in & she knows exactly where to go

• She walks right up into the tub. I don’t have to walk up the tub steps with her. For some dogs, I be damn near in the tub with them😭

• She’s fine with the cage, no barking or scratching to get out

• She climbs right onto the table. The table goes all the way to the floor but I swear some dogs still won’t lift their paws to get up on it.

• She’s easy to blow dry. She doesn’t try to bite the nozzle

• She stands for almost the entire groom & when she sits she stands right back up when I need her to

And she’s always very sweet, so how could you not love her!? Groomers appreciate dogs like this because we don’t always get them, although I have a lot of good dogs that I get to groom on a regular basis. I’m blessed truly🙏🏾

Every puppy is different. Some come in the salon like they’ve been doing this their whole 12 weeks of living.
Others come in the salon like they will murder anything moving.

Either way, keep your puppy on a regular 4-6 week grooming schedule! They’ll benefit, you’ll benefit, your groomer will benefit! Every one wins!

This is literally how I talk to all the fur babies that come in😭😂

Yes, cats can lick themselves but is it really cleaning!?They cannot get themselves clean like a bath can. Baths help with dirt, dander, flaky skin, greasy ness, things that they may pickup outside (if they’re outside cats), & some skin conditions. They also smell good after if done properly. A cat’s tongue isn’t making them smell good, I promise😂.

Most groomers have a variety of shampoos & conditioners that can be tailored to your cats specific needs.
