In 1981, Martha Nicholson purchased an old barber shop at her own expense and opened The Cat Corner in Hampton, Virginia. The Cat Corner is a no-kill, non-profit cat shelter for homeless cats, that has been operated by volunteers since 1981 and is solely funded by donations. Cats are accepted into the

shelter as space becomes available and each receives proper medical care, will be spayed/neutered and updated on their shots prior to becoming available for adoption. Adopting families are screened and care is taken to closely match cats and their new families to insure a good fit. It would be unfair to the cat to get attached to a family...only to be brought back to the shelter. We do ask though, if it is not a good fit or there is a change of circumstances and you can no longer provide care for you cat, please bring them back to the Cat Corner and to not take them anywhere else. Please come by and visit the kitties, we are always looking for dedicated volunteers and wonderful forever homes for our kitty residents. Cats know the song in your heart and purr it to you when your memory fails.

Meet Theodore: Survivor, Wrestler, Professional Food Inspector!

Theodore was only supposed to be a temporary foster, but after arriving in rough shape, we discovered he had clotting issues likely caused by rodent poison. After a month of daily medications and care, Theodore survived and is now thriving!

He’s gained weight, his bloodwork is normal, and he’s fully embraced his second chance at life. He loves food, other cats, and wrestling—especially with his best friend, Frank.

He's a sweet, resilient, slightly awkward orange boy who has overcome a lot in a short amount of time. He loves food, loves cats, loves playtime, and is proof that sometimes the cats who start out as "just a short foster stay" have a way of making themselves unforgettable.

In fact, he is pretty sure every toy belongs to him! Once playtime is over, Zeke transforms into the ultimate snuggle bug. He absolutely loves being held and cuddled, and he is convinced he is still a baby. Like any respectable feline, Zeke is also a fan of treats and gets especially excited when it is time for his favorite wet food.

Meet Retweet!

If your idea of the perfect evening involves a comfy blanket, a cozy lap, and a whole lot of purring, then Retweet is absolutely your guy! Retweet is a handsome, fluffy, incredibly sweet boy who LOVES human affection. This personable boy will follow you around the house and may even stop to tell you all about his day. He is a lap warmer and has perfected snuggling himself deep inside soft blankets. When he is not busy being your personal cuddle buddy, Retweet’s other favorite pastime is bird watching. And he has a little habit that we think is pretty adorable, you might occasionally discover one of his toy mice tucked inside your coffee mug. Apparently, that is just how he rolls.

There is one very important requirement for this handsome guy, Retweet MUST be the only cat in the household. No exceptions.

Meet Millie!

Millie is a young, petite sweetheart with a huge heart and so much love to give. This super affectionate girl has never met a stranger and will likely be the very first one to greet you when you walk into the room. She is always ready to say hello and soak up some attention! Like most young cats, Millie has a playful side and enjoys the occasional case of the zoomies. But when playtime is over, she turns into a total snuggle bug.

This little lady does not mind being picked up and will rub her sweet face against yours to show her love. And if you happen to have treats? That’s just the cherry on top! If you are looking for a friendly, affectionate companion who will greet you with love every day, Millie might just be your perfect match.

Note: Millie would do best in a single cat household.
