In 1981, Martha Nicholson purchased an old barber shop at her own expense and opened The Cat Corner in Hampton, Virginia. The Cat Corner is a no-kill, non-profit cat shelter for homeless cats, that has been operated by volunteers since 1981 and is solely funded by donations. Cats are accepted into the

shelter as space becomes available and each receives proper medical care, will be spayed/neutered and updated on their shots prior to becoming available for adoption. Adopting families are screened and care is taken to closely match cats and their new families to insure a good fit. It would be unfair to the cat to get attached to a family...only to be brought back to the shelter. We do ask though, if it is not a good fit or there is a change of circumstances and you can no longer provide care for you cat, please bring them back to the Cat Corner and to not take them anywhere else. Please come by and visit the kitties, we are always looking for dedicated volunteers and wonderful forever homes for our kitty residents. Cats know the song in your heart and purr it to you when your memory fails.

Meet Marni!

She has a purr like a Harley and the speed to boot! She loves anything she can chase--spring toys, balls, wands, you name it, this little feline is always all in and on the move. Marni is the perfect mix of independent and affectionate. She'll spend her day zooming around, proudly dragging toys from room to room then come check in for cuddles and biscuits. This little lady is all about calm energy and brings a whole lot of laughter and fun along with her. She prefers the company of dogs, older cats, and humans. Marni would be happiest in a home situation either with other calmer cats to play with or by herself, and a human (or two!) to provide lots of pets, an occasional treat, and plenty of room to run and explore.

Fiddles is a loving senior lady with a heart full of affection and a lot of opinions she'd love to share with you (chatty little lady). After spending 10 years in a home, she was returned to our shelter through no fault of her own. While her world was turned upside down, Fiddles hasn't let that stop her from loving people with her whole heart.

Fiddles does have skin and allergy issues that require ongoing management, but they are well-controlled with medication.

The Cat Corner Inc. will supply all her needed food/ litter and other supplies she may need as well as medical care and medication while in foster care.

This playful boy has a quirky habit of giving gentle toe, nose, and ear nibbles (aka his way of showing love ). Water is his fascination! Whether it’s the sink, shower, or even the toilet (yes, he’s figured out how to flush once or twice ), Porcini is always curious!

Playtime is his jam- string toys, the electric ball, and especially springs. Give him one, and he’ll proudly run around with it until the treats come out! This sweet girl is full of love and personality and is just waiting to find the purr-fect home to call her own. Jane is full of the type of playful energy that can brighten up any home. Jane loves to talk to her people and tell you all about her day, especially when it is time to eat! Jane is good with other cats and is confident and social with people, even strangers!
